This is such a fantastic owl. They are incredible. Their eyes are bright orange and they are really big. Stunning birds. However they pose a significant conservation dilemma in the UK and some people consider they should be humanely removed. More on the debate here... http://www.rspb.org.uk/ourwork/policy/species/nonnative/eagleowls.aspx
Thank you everyone for your wonderful comments and Fav's. They are all appreciated.

Super shot. Was this at the Gauntlet centre in Cheshire? I captured a European Eagle Owl there and posted it at http://365project.org/pixels4u/365/2011-08-26 Just wondered if it was the same one?
this is really a once in a lifetime shot...looks like he is coming right at you...like the two of you discussed the photo and the composition. well done
Mmmm...the jurys still out,is'nt it,on all these reintroduction's.I kinda go with nature, really. And look how otters are making such a comeback. Its us who need to change to affect the environment at a deep level
Those eyes are amazing! They look as if they're locked on you! Like the blurry wing movement. Great capture. Again, I'd be interested in knowing more of the EXIF details (so when I come across a owl, I'll be prepared ;0) )
AWESOME! I'm aquainted with a male Eurasian Eagle Owl (at least we think he's male based on his size) named Trevor. He's big and seems to think he needs to splatter me with his water every time.
