Such a wonderful and colourful still life ,love the coordination of the fruit colours and nicely placed on the rustic wooden board . Would make a wonderful stew or soup for these cold winter days !
This a nice arrangement in a rustic setting. I like how strategically the harvest has been placed on that table incorporating it with the plank which leads into the picture.
@bruni - Actually, yes a vegetarian. Vegetables are my yummy goto! Veggies in a stew with beans - that's the thing! Thank you for your lovely comment tho'.
The fruit and veg look extra good against the lovely, weathered textures of the table. The colours are pleasingly mellow which is, of course, autumnal!
Not sure about the bright, orange-gold piece of wood at bottom right but love how you've arranged the edibles so the "long" veggies lead the eye around the composition.
We get all our veg from a farm shop now, it's always very good.
@netkonnexion I did think it might be a composite.
OK, here goes:
Having taken the brightness of the light and its effect on the foodstuffs into consideration and the relative amounts of texture in them and the table, I feel bringing out the texture just a touch more in the parsnip, garlic and possibly the carrot would enhance the appearance of their unity with the rest of the scene. But I could well be wrong, I can't really be sure solely by looking.
(Would I be right in thinking that the fruit and veg didn't begin life as a single exposure?)
The light's very convincing, the highlights on the tangerine, pepper and the red onion skins nicely controlled (I wouldn't expect anything less from you); the scale of the still life itself in comparison to the table works too.
P.S 26/2 The relative colour temperatures look spot on too.
@dulciknit - There were only two exposures. The table and the veggies. The colour temp was close enough to not be discernible between the two shots... and that was why they were taken two years apart, because I never found the right light conditions to take the table shot so it matched the veggie shot. You are right about the definition. I would like to have had more contrast in the original veggie shot. But percieved it to be good enough. Yes, not perfect. But when is a photograph ever perfect. LOL.
