Yestderday you saw...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So yesterday you were obviously looking at some sort of network thing-a-majig-hicky-bob-object!
Actually it was an RJ45 Computer 8P registered jack for ethernet connections - normally used on Cat5 cable. You would have noticed of course that all eight tabs were wired giving an 8P8C configuration. I am sure the eagle eyed ones among you spotted that one!
I think some of you may have confused it with the RJ45 telephone standard "Keyed" version with the 8P body or the earlier original version with the 8P2C modular connector setup. But that one has an extra tab and the Ethernet version cannot connect to that.
I know that you all know that stuff... perhaps I did not need to include it?
So lets see - who got it right?
Brandie Moody; Keith MacKenzie (close enough); Frances Chaloner (close enough); Doug O.; Vicki K; Ian Busuttil; Mike Warren (clever cross-reference, but I got it!); Linda; Liz (fotomama); Jen E.
Well done all those who got it right and to those who got close enough!
Honorable mentions to...
scooter - looks like a colorful chip clip! Ha, made a decision, until I read everyone's responses after mine!! LOL :) Net says:-->> I give up... I can't keep jumping around - LOL. I am not Secretary Bird!
Brandie Moody - And I said handcuffs cause some police organizations use a type of cable tie for handcuffs during raids. =) Net says:-->> Obviously obsessed with handcuffs! Keeps going on about them. I suppose if pushed you could use an ethernet cable instead... LOL> teehee!
Lisabell - Hmmm. I don't know the technical term, but I think it's one of those doojamafloppers at the end of a phone or computer cord that plugs into the jack. Net says:-->> Ah! You see there you fell into the 8P2C vs. 8P8C trap. I think you should go back and RTFM. LOL. You can't have it as both a telephone and computer version. This was Ethernet = Computer. Tsk. Tsk. Got to be precise! Nevertheless... A Doohicky award! Yahy! LOL.
Rick Schies - It reminds me of a pager. Net says:-->> Sorry Rick, I have no idea where that idea came from. Beats me...
mittens (Marilyn) - A plastic box of some kind? Maybe a miniature vacuum cleaner? Net says:-->> Wow. Really miniature. So tiny you could not get a motor in it. Cool. That would be something! But, seriously... NO!
Paula Brumbe - it is a vintage 1993 see through plastic case pager/beeper. I bet you were the coolest wearin that on your waistband. I myself had one until it fell off my waistband and made a huge kerplunk into the Texaco toilet bowl.
Net says:-->> Seriously Paula, lets get straight to the point. Actually I think you were thinking of the 8P2C version. So, still wrong... LMAO!
Nancy Holte - Well, since I don't have a clue what this is I'm going to guess it has something to do with computers. Oh, and I love the doohicky award idea! Net says:-->> Sorry, you don't get a doohicky award for mentioning the doohicky award. However, as a special one-off I will give you a "Clueless-with-Ethernet-RJ45s" award. OK... LOL>
Stephen - I think its a Phone cable! Net says:-->> Sorry Stephen you fell into my trap perfectly. Remember 8P8C, not 8P2C!
Tashy - I love this time of the morning when I'm the first up and I can have my morning cuppa and stare uncomprehendingly at my screen while my brain whirrs and fails to make sense of what I see, its part of my daily routine lol. Today is no exception and Im gonna have to say polly pockets suitcase. Net says:-->> I have no idea what planet Tashy is on today!!! But I think its worth a Doohicky award. Yayh! LOL...
Katherine Ann Klinck - post it note dispenser :o) Net says:-->> I know what planet this one came from - Planet Different! NO!
Sue Wilde - All those techeads sounded like they know what they're talking about...so it must be a postit note dispenser because tha's what I thought too. Net says:-->> OMG... Its catching. Now Sue has it. An alien bug from Planet Different. LOL
ryncediez - great shot! Net says:-->> Obviously keeping up there Ryncy! 8P8C or the other one? LOL
Jennifer C - a lunchbox with a colourful sandwich inside. Net says:-->> Wow, thats why my sandwiches were so crunchy - LOL.
Camille Bisson - a computer something that i don't know the name of but i can cheat by looking at something up the screen but i don't really want to. . .ethernet connection doohickey? or maybe it is just chocolate eclairs from your bakery, i don't know. . . i give up. i going to go have some coffee. Net says:-->> The ramblings of a mad chocolate eclair addict... LOL.
Liz (fotomama) - a computer or phone cable? in any case something you get billed WAAYYY to much for.... Net says:-->> So an expensive 8p8C then? LOL...
Paula Wallis - I don't know, kind of looks like a little mini-toolkit that I have, so I'm going to go with that. Net says:-->> Doohicky award here people!!!
Mimi Ditchie - Something electrical.....maybe...... Net says:-->> Amazing Sherlock. Your mind is so incisive... Incredible. Those wires may have given it away for you then? ROFL.
Thanks for trying everyone. You made it lots of fun today. My sides are splitting...
See you tomorrow.
Remember 8P8C NOT 8P2C... (walks off muttering... efficiency, education...)
Enjoy!
It's two loving clasps that cannot bear (bare?) to be separated.
Well, I will forever appreciate getting the "Clueless-with-Ethernet-RJ45s" award. I'll include it in my list of accomplishments in life. Now, I'm totally certain that I know what today's object is, but of course, I haven't a clue what it's called. BUT, it's essentially two hooks that you can clasp together to tether a boat to the dock. Right? I am right, aren't I? :-)
It’s some kind of clasp, but since I was reprimanded for not being specific enough yesterday I can only assume this answer is not adequate either. So, well, hmm . . . it’s a gray clasp!
June 23rd, 2011
I reckon its the hooks that you attach to the rod that you hang a shower curtain from. You've linked them together to confuse us but I have seen through your cunning.
June 23rd, 2011
