More about "Identify This"... http://365project.org/netkonnexion/number03/2011-05-11

Yestderday you saw...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yes, I think most people picked up that it was a propellor. Very good. Nice to see so many keen propellor-heads about. Lets see who got it right...
Rick Schies; Lisa; Paula Brumbe (YahY!); Doug O; Brandie Moody (fanciful thinking about the sub there); Mittens (Marilyn); Shirley Chetwynd; Eddy J. W; Vicki Durkin; Howard N; Detective Nancy Holte; Philip Cole (also see below); Sara's Dad; Vicki Kell; Rev. Fr. Joel Osborne (obviously a high 'rev' prop - Grin); Captain Camille Bisson of the motorlaunch 'Outboard'; Bev; Laurie Higgins; Mike Warren (also see below); Liz (fotomama)(also see below); Natacha Murphy; and possibly Scooter (see below)...
Fan blades are rife. Since fan blades and propellors are the same shape...
Paula Cook-Farkas; Aarti krishnakumar; Sue Wilde; Alta D©; Ryncediez; Reba; june milner;
Well done you lot!
Honorable mentions to...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Paula Brumbe - underwater engine propellor that seems to have gotten stuck in the mud and not cleaned to a sparkling finish. Net says:-> Actually it was a beautiful bronze prop. but the fresco style processing toned it down a bit. LOL. Still didn't fool you hot shot!

Howard N - There is no question it is the port side propellor from your motor yacht, but since you drive on the wrong side over there, it may be the starboard prop, maybe! Net says:-> The International Maritime Organisation lists most countries of the world as having adopted the International Conventions on Maritime Navigation. We all use the same side of the pond for any given direction when on the water -- unless you plan to use a propellor on your car! LOL...

Philip Cole - Boat propellor or screw. Net says:-> Nice one. Hope its a speed boat, we all like a quick screw! LOL.

Vicki K - Cooling fan for your computer. Net says:-> Wow. Some cooling fan - powered by a four cylinder Lister diesel engine with pumped water cooling! LOL. Noisiest computer I ever had. Cost me a fortune to run that computer. Doohicky Award here folks!!!

Mike Warren - Prop from a 1985 10hp Johnson outboard motor :) Net says:-> Impressively precise, but no! An inboard Lister diesel engine.

judith deacon - Propeller blade seems just too obvious - a red herring? How about mixer blade from a food processor?
Net says:-> Good effort, err... NO! But, Doohicky Award! Whoop! Whoop!

Liz (fotomama) - the propeller from your civil war era submarine. Net says:-> Civil War? Wow. I was young back then? LOL... Don't remember submarines though!

June milner - Changed my mind , its the propellor from your bathtub submarine. Net says:-> OK, this is going too far. I could not get the propellor in my bathtub, let alone the submarine as well! LOL...

scooter - Ok I am going to say a water fan thingy that looks used or you processed to make it look old! Net says:-> OK, I am not sure what you mean by a water fan thingy... So I gave you the benifit of the doubt above. But it made me laugh a lot so... Doohicky Award here crew! YAYAH!!!

Thanks for the maritime shenanigans. Great fun!
See you tomorrow.
Enjoy!

A large keyhole?

the hinge/fulcrum on wire cutters or pliers?
June 26th, 2011
Got it. The point at which the handles of a cutting tool (snips) or pliers converge.

Tony Soprano: Paulie! Get the bolt cutters from out of the trunk! Ariel, we're goin' to Plan B.
June 26th, 2011
Yep, that would have been a tough one, but with the help of the other smart cookies here, I will go along with some sort of shears / cutter.

Kind of looks like a keyhole with an attitude.

Older style keyhole .... the kind that uses a skeleton key
June 26th, 2011
I'm thinking old bolt cutter.
June 26th, 2011
I was pretty much convinced it was an old fashioned key hole but now I'm thinking the others are right!
June 26th, 2011
Hmmmm. . . well, I finally got one right and I hate to break my record one-night record, but I'm going to take a stab in the dark, just to be different. Let's go with a sundial. Seriously, I know I'm wrong, but I hate to go along with everyone else, especially when they can't even agree.
June 26th, 2011
I was thinking of a keyhole too, until I saw the comments about the cutter of some sort. Now I just don't know!
June 26th, 2011
A tool to snip something....like a wire.....
June 26th, 2011
Yeah!!! I get to be wrong again. It's an anvil cutter (as opposed to a bypass cutter). Could be for the garden or the wires but the ever cunning Net has disguised it just enough)
June 26th, 2011
I thought it looked like a railroad spike...
June 26th, 2011
Oh I dotn have a clue, a keyhole maybe, but I do like the shot.

Gate to the Batcave! =)
June 26th, 2011
It's a very cool shot of whatever it is!
June 26th, 2011
looks like part of some sort of turn mechanism that closes to the top there
June 26th, 2011
Keyhole 17th century?
June 26th, 2011
I think I see wood so I am going to say gardening clippers, the part between the handle and the clipping blades. EEK on the award ROTF LOL
June 26th, 2011
looks like it is missing a piece lol....
June 26th, 2011
keyhole plyer cutters which have the multiple use for wires and the garden.
June 26th, 2011
