Dusting off the rusty brain cells. by newbank

Dusting off the rusty brain cells.

So I got it in and I edited it and I got it out again and I stored it where I think I know it is...... Took up photography 18 months ago to dust off the rusty brain cells. Sat with my new text book for lightroom and figuring it out on a laptop operating system I know zero about.... excuse me whilst I go do a happy dance at getting an image in and out and onto here!!!!
Well done you! Lots of new stuff to get to grips with, and a great end result, which I love. But then you probably knew I would ...

Great color and patina. Nice shabby chic shot!

Great shot - good luck with Lightroom, it's great fun. I have a big text book as well...which I should probably open at some point

Sympathies and commiserations, Ruth! I have given up on Lightroom and its Apple equivalent Aperture. I'm sure they are good at organising your stuff… but as with all organisers you have to decide how you want it to be, which is where I fall over! Anyway this is a super shot, whatever you have used processed it.

BTW Minions - some kind of cartoon characters? More Smurf than South park? Just guessing!

@yrhenwr Yeah.....forget the minions.....yes little yellow people!!

@dibzgreasley @graemestevens going to need luck, Ive just duplicated folders inside folders.....oh help!!! Where is that duster....
June 29th, 2015
Well done Ruth...you are getting there! Lovely textures & pleasing colours! It takes so much time working it all out though!
June 29th, 2015
good work..I chickened out on a 30 day free trial.. maybe I should have had a big text book...
June 29th, 2015
And a great picture it is too!
June 29th, 2015
@newbank Duster? There's a duster?
June 29th, 2015
@graemestevens yeah my text book came supplied with a fluffy green one for getting the dust off.... If the duster fails the book will make a great door stop....

Don't know the first thing about lightroom but it does produce a very nice shot with lovely subtle colours and textures and of course with more than a little help from the photographer!

I like this! I've been enjoying my adventures with LR.
June 29th, 2015
Beautiful :)

PS lightroom is great, I don't have any text books but there are some very helpful youtube tutorials out there!
June 30th, 2015
Yay! And what an image! Fav for sure!
June 30th, 2015
And a wonderful image it is too, such great texture, a fav for me. I admire you greatly for figuring out Lightroom. I'm a retired librarian,, but can't figure out the "library" portion of LR, and so have never got as far as actually editing anything in it. For the moment I will stick with PS CC.

This is a lovely image... good for you, to get out there and experiment with Lightroom. A well-deserved "happy dance!" Lovely peeling paint and lines, too.

Love this old
blue door A Fav

Fabulous shot, just love this. Well done for tackling Lightroom. We have Lightroom and Photoshop on our computers, but I stick to Photoshop I know my way round that pretty well.
June 30th, 2015
well done - wonderful image i love it
June 30th, 2015
@newbank I've also just got lightroom - found this link online http://www.lightroomqueen.com
and am also doing a cheeky little get start course - could probably try and figure it all out myself .. but am likely to get into a pickle!!
June 30th, 2015
Love this!

June 30th, 2015
Great shot. Love it. Fav
June 30th, 2015
Lovely composition where you had problems getting in or out, that confused me.

Great shot with wonderful textures and colors!

I Love old doors and windows and things. Great shot. Fav!
July 1st, 2015
Well done, I love the textures of the door. I haven't really figured out Lightroom yet. I always find myself going back to Photoshop.

Happy dance away -- you've earned it!! Terrific image and it isn't that long ago that I remember how satisfying it was just to find the image, be able to work on it, and find it again once exported! It does get easier and faster.

What is it about the rusty and peeling things that attract us so much? Beautiful! the old tones, and the paint, and the lines.
July 1st, 2015
Great image, love your narrative
July 2nd, 2015
PK would love this - felt his smile
I do too
I haven't plunged into my lightroom yet - mammoth thought
July 2nd, 2015
@yrhenwr do you fall over because you cannot decide - that is my concern lol
July 2nd, 2015
@annied Yes, it's a hazard I face increasingly with age!
July 2nd, 2015
@yrhenwr I can make quick decisions about most thibgs but when it comes to photos and creative endeavors I am useless
July 2nd, 2015
@annied Thank you Annie.
July 2nd, 2015
@annied I was thinking more of such indecisions as which foot to put forward next! :-) Back to the Lightroom thing… its mainly 'software intolerance' with me. If it isn't intuitive, if I have to spend more than 5' getting it to do what I want, then I ditch it! I imagine that the drug companies are working right now on getting it classified as a disease so they can patent a pill for it!
July 2nd, 2015
@yrhenwr hahaha - a pill - yes - I imagine they are - editing suites are completely addictive - I must admit I love faffing around but then I do often want to hit something during the process - will a pill fix that?
July 2nd, 2015
Whoop whoop! That getting in and out is tricky.
July 3rd, 2015
Love your shot as a compliment to mine! Thanks Taffy for the link. I must say, "great minds think alike" and now shoot alike as well!
