So I'm leaving these parts for a while. I've done 18 months on 365 and my time has come for a big break. Ive signed up to do an online diploma and I want to give it all I've got photographically so I'm pressing pause on my project here. No idea when I'll be back so I'm saying my goodbyes and thank you to you all. Its been a pleasure being a part of such a wonderful community. As part of my course I need to post somewhere and as Im not a Facebook fan I'll be setting up a flicker account. I'll let anyone who'd be interested and is on flicker what my account is once set up. So many many thanks to you all of being a part of my 365 journey. Its been a pleasure.
Is it a photography degree? How exciting for you. Hey, I'd love to keep in touch via facebook. I'm Amanda Crocker Lomonaco. Love your parting shot. Poignant.
Ah I will be very sorry to see you go. Do hope you'll be back at some point. The diploma sounds great - do you mind saying which one? I've been wondering about doing something more formal for a while, though I'll probably just stick with 365 and Instagram for now. I'd love to see your flicker account once it's up and running. All the best to you and your family :)
@seanoneill oh and have you completely self taught yourself? As I said the other week your work has developed so much since you started on here. Anything particularly on the b and w side you'd suggest as a learning tool / masters of the trade?
Sorry to hear you are leaving Ms Newbank. I post to Flickr via Lightroom, not a lot of time spent at the site, but I do get there. Could you post your Flickr name on one of my images here?
Oh dear that is sad news Ruth....will miss you so much & the pictures of your lovely boys. You got to do what you fancy& the diploma sounds just your thing! I have noticed how interested & more into your photography you have got over the last few weeks so it makes sense. Have a fantastic time learning & you might pop back now & again with news of boys & your new project. I don't do Twitter so can't follow you there but many good wishes for your new venture. X
@newbank yes, I've taught myself. I could give so much advice, but I'll restrict it to 3 pieces.
1. Shoot on manual, you will learn to master your camera.
2. Composition counts for so much. A plain subject well composed is better than a great subject badly composed. I love simplicity in composition.
3. See the end product when you take a shot, imagine it post processing. It can turn something ordinary into something special.
@seanoneill mow they are three good pieces of advice. I have started going completely manual when time allows and I can see I get better images for that. I'll dwell on the composition comment, composition intrigues me and I'd like to be a lot better at it. Thanks! Yes coffee be good. I'll email you some time when we've both adjusted to new academic years at home. How soon does Sam leave?
Good luck Ruth… I have simply loved so many of your shots and your comments. I have a Flickr account too, so let me know yours and I'll watch you from there! Great advice from Sean… composition first and foremost .. and you have a head start in that area. @seanoneill
I am so sorry to see you go--will miss you and your wonderful pictures of your boys, and in fact all your captures. I hope your online course goes really well, and that you'll come back to the 365 someday.
Oh, well done for signing up for an online diploma! I hope you really enjoy it, and I would love to follow you on Flickr. Good luck Ruth, it has been fun following you and doing the mentor group with you.
All the best to you Ruth -- you've been a wonderful friend on 365 and I'll miss you. On Flickr, I'm at: https://www.flickr.com/photos/taffyraphael/albums
So do let me know when your account is up and running. I'm not that active except in one small group and even there have had less time lately. But it's a way to connect now and then. I may also be in London around a meeting November 20th...still not that close to you though, I suspect.
Ive only been on 365 for just over a year and I have enjoyed ll your photos. Good luck with your new course;its exciting to start something new. All the best for the future. I'll miss seeing shots of your lovely boys like this one
Oh what a pity you are leaving; I have so enjoyed your posts, photos and watching your boys grow up. I do hope to see you back some time. I too am on flickr but rarely post. I may have to, to see how you are getting on. All the best for your course. x
Best of luck and keep on snapping.
