Spike (better against black and all that...)

For b and w natural light. I'm scared of flash photography so all i shoot is natural light except when I'm indoors with lightbulbs! Taken a while back but having a look at what it looks like converted.

I like this a lot. I like the way the form really pops in the foreground while we see the hint of others in the background. I know what you mean re reluctance to move to speedlight focus!

Beautiful composition and great dof! Love the detail of the flower. I have the speedlight and also a macro ring flash but as I have used them so rarely I have forgotten how to use them properly! Next week will be a big challenge!

I love this in b and w and I like the soft bokehed flowers behind but I think I might crop a bit off the top because the balance seems a bit off

I really like the composition with the flower in the corner, and the suggestion of flowers behind. I'm torn whether to suggest the cloning of that bit sticking up behind the flower centre or not. I also have no extra flashes (except what is on the camera) or speedlites, and will be relying on torches and lights next week!

I always think B&W brings out the lines in the petals. I've just planted some cone flowers in the front - I should photograph them in case they don't come up again next year!
