January - Face

Decided to try the self portrait thing again. Soon hard. How on earth am I supposed to get my eyes pin sharp when focusing with a teddy bear then swapping places? Hmmm..... not what I had imagined but here we are for today.
I get unfocused selfies some of the time. Maybe half and half. I never have figured out the eye for a selfie. Usually mine are less in your face. I like the concept here. Super comp. The lighting is off. I find that happens often with my indoor photography. Settings? Lack of flash? I don't know.

Is that really you?! You look 10 years old, hehe. Beautiful Ruth.

@amandal just uploaded the uneditied original. This is my best attempt at an edit...I didn't like any of the others!

@amandal never used flash. it's SCARY!!!! I was outdoors but the lighting sucks...

@bella_ss Thats because I reduced the clarity right down as far as it would go....I'm getting lines and I'm no model!!

Looked better on my phone. You have a young beautiful face:).

@amandal very kind ( but I just see tiredness!)

I like the hood around your face, it works well and your direct look. Getting the focus right with selfies is hard... but I think you are doing really well. Can we expect more?

@dibzgreasley maybe... I've seen STUNNING shots with hoods. They have stunning focus on the eyes, (which are often blue and very striking) beautiful detail and clarity. I'm BUGGED by the eye focus busy looking it up now... When looking up ideas for selfies, I came across another one I might try. Just for this week whilst its selfies week.

Really love the composition in this! Wonderful selfie. And I've not figured that out either. I just try to set my camera to focus where the eye should be and use my remote to get it to focus before snapping. But really, it seems to be luck.

@newbank What camera do you have?

I like the concept and composition in this shot.

No bags. Maybe tiredness felt, but not noticeable.

Great selfie, as others have said you look so young, I'm not good at selfies.

Crikey your boys look like you!! I suppose I should try - last time I airbrushed myself in to oblivion!

You are so young. I love your hood
January 6th, 2016
Love it, so soft and gentle :)

Oh, I remember getting so frustrated with the focus thing when I did a low-key selfie one time. That teddybear thing never really worked out for me. Blurry or not, I like the intensity of the eyes looking directly at the viewer. Very close.

Have you tried tethering it to a laptop?( Neither have I...I do it by putting something where I'm going to be so that I can get the focus right) Anyhow...I can't believe that this doesn't have one fav yet. Superb shot and processing, and in my humble opinion I don't think it needs to be "pin sharp"...outstanding processing too

I love this version. Know what you mean about the eyes, but I think that just adds to the mystery of the shot and adds a softness. Love the hood around our face.
I agree with Sheralee you do look so young. You wouldn't want to see a close up of me, it would be scary.

Love the hood, you look so young.

You look like someone I'd enjoy knowing.

I actually like the lighting and the hood and your tiredness somehow create a story of an eskimo

Did you try manual focus newbank, that would work :)
Nice shot, i agree with the comments above, in that you do look VERY young !
January 7th, 2016
@phil_howcroft how do you manually focus a selfie? Just wondering
