Tui by nickspicsnz

Tui

Hamilton Zoo has the largest free flight aviary in NZ housing native birds and plants. This tui was in the aviary and was sat in quite a shady spot. I lightened the picture a bit using Picasa and when I did it brought out all the lovely colours of its plumage. I was planning to try and take some better shots of it using my tripod but when I was setting it up it banged on a post and the noise made the tui fly away :-(
My favorite Bird! Fav

If you have this opportunity - you can get some really wonderful ones showing that luminescent feathering! This one shows that great bobble!

@imaginings Thanks very much. The aviary is a very large free flight enclosure that people can walk through. This bird was perched up on a branch near the walkway.

Good job with the processing. I haven't seen this type of bird before, unusual white feathers on his throat.
