Sycamore Gap on Hadrian's Wall

Today we walked 8km along Hadrian's Wall, the northern frontier of a mighty Roman empire that stretches 80 miles across northern England, close to the Scottish border. The wall was built in 122 AD to guard against the incursion of the northern tribes into the Roman lands in the south of England.
