Desperate Dan and his dog, by nodrognai

Desperate Dan and his dog,

Desperate Dan is a wild west character in the now-defunct British comic magazine The Dandy, and became its mascot. He made his appearance in the first issue which was dated 4 December 1937. He is apparently the world's strongest man, able to lift a cow with one hand. The pillow of his bed is filled with building rubble and his beard is so tough he shaves with a blowtorch. His favourite food is Cow Pie

Here a little passerby is giving the dog some attention.
Partly hidden by the boy is a small statue of Minnie the Minx firing a catapult. Minnie was a character in the Beano a sister comic of the Dandy.
The statues are in the centre of Dundee, where the comics were published by D C Thomson and Co
Oh I like this so much such movement in the structure

Great capture of the boy with the dog. And thanks so much for the background info, Ian. Fascinating and fun! (Shaving with a blowtorch?! :)

What a fabulous statue and capture, he really seems to be marching somewhere! Such fascinating history, I have never heard of this tough guy before.
