I know... I know... selective colouring... not everyone's cup of tea... but I desperately wanted to make this work... the background was too distracting in colour, and she was too blobby in b&w... so there you have it...the street preacher jammin' with the gospel singer (do they qualify as an odd couple?)... and the lady in the swishy pink dress who actually looked at them...
Btw - I think this looks better viewed large on the black background...
Thank you all so very very much for the stunning reception of my Pretty Bleak shot from yesterday... I was quite astonished to get home tonight and see it on PP...
I love SC and it works with this one. I find the pink soft enough that it doesn't take away from the darkness of the musicians...it actually makes them pop a little more than if the whole pic was B&W. Make sense? Time for bed....
Well I love selective colouring! And this works really well. It pulls the focus into the foreground which I think makes it easier to see the mid-ground too - or that's what it does for me. :)
Love, love, love this! The pink flash makes this photo so great! Your eye goes there first then you have a look around to see what else is going on. Fav.
I thought she was holding half a guitar case in her hand. Haha. I don't know about the SC but I guess she would have looked blobby in grey. Nice capture of the musicians.
Not a big fan of selective colour myself, but works really well here with the softer pink rather than the scarlet reds people often do. Movement adds to the appeal too...
I think the result is perfect; the selective colouring makes the foreground figure part of the picture's story, not just a part of the surroundings. Fav.
