She looked! by northy

She looked!

I know... I know... selective colouring... not everyone's cup of tea... but I desperately wanted to make this work... the background was too distracting in colour, and she was too blobby in b&w... so there you have it...the street preacher jammin' with the gospel singer (do they qualify as an odd couple?)... and the lady in the swishy pink dress who actually looked at them...

Btw - I think this looks better viewed large on the black background...

Thank you all so very very much for the stunning reception of my Pretty Bleak shot from yesterday... I was quite astonished to get home tonight and see it on PP...
I love SC and it works with this one. I find the pink soft enough that it doesn't take away from the darkness of the musicians...it actually makes them pop a little more than if the whole pic was B&W. Make sense? Time for bed....

This is a wonderful street shot. Really like the woman's motion blur with one leg tack sharp.

I would love to be able to do this - I think its just the right thing here!

I'm not usually a fan of selective colour, but I really like this a lot!

I love this - has a Jackie O feel to it. :)

I like it here too, especially since she's moving.

I love SC so long as it fits. This fits. Perfectly done and for the right reasons. Fav xx

A great street shot! The selective color certainly caught my eye and pulled it in. 8)

Well I love selective colouring! And this works really well. It pulls the focus into the foreground which I think makes it easier to see the mid-ground too - or that's what it does for me. :)

Great shot without the colour popping! 'Nuff said!
July 6th, 2012
Love, love, love this! The pink flash makes this photo so great! Your eye goes there first then you have a look around to see what else is going on. Fav.

I love that her dress is swooshed and resembles a 'gospel' feel. Definately works for me.
July 6th, 2012
I'm glad you decided to pick the dress to colour select. Nice pink dress to highlight in your composition.
July 6th, 2012
The selective colour works well - my eye was drawn to the musicians...wonderful shot!!
July 6th, 2012
This is so interesting, what program do you use?
July 6th, 2012
I think it works great in this shot.
July 6th, 2012
I think there is a place for selective color, and here is one where it works. Helps pull her out in contrast to the rest of the scene ... :)

WOW!......This is just brilliant!....The movement, selective colouring & those cool street musicians!!.....a sure Fav! : )

fabulous, i love the SC
July 6th, 2012
I thought she was holding half a guitar case in her hand. Haha. I don't know about the SC but I guess she would have looked blobby in grey. Nice capture of the musicians.

I think the selective coloring works for this photo. Nice!
July 7th, 2012
Great job with the selective color. This is really fab!
July 7th, 2012
I agree. It's much better large and on the black background. I don't think the sc was a bad choice. It seems to work well.
July 7th, 2012
I really like the way you've processed this and I love the motion in the pink lady (also her skirt is a little awesome! Love the swish!)
July 7th, 2012
Brilliant street shot and the SC is perfect here. Superb.
July 7th, 2012
I really like this use of SC! Great street shot!
July 7th, 2012
Not a big fan of selective colour myself, but works really well here with the softer pink rather than the scarlet reds people often do. Movement adds to the appeal too...
July 7th, 2012
love this! really well done

July 10th, 2012
Oh, very nice street picture! Clever choice of selective colouring. I don't always like it but it works so well here.
July 10th, 2012
This feels pretty lively to me!
July 12th, 2012
This is the sort of photo where selective coloring enhanced the image. And such a wonderful image! Fave.
July 12th, 2012
FAV - love this so much
July 12th, 2012
I think the result is perfect; the selective colouring makes the foreground figure part of the picture's story, not just a part of the surroundings. Fav.
July 15th, 2012
This one popped off the screen when I clicked on your July calendar. So ya, I'd say it works very well. ;)
