Because it's been a while since i last posted a subway station shot ;p and also because the person is climbing the stairs and stairs is on the bonus list for the November word challenge...
The total blow out of the light in the right position of the frame is disappointing. Can post processing recover any of these details? Otherwise, very interesting.
@frankhymus no - there really isn't anything there to see... i debated cropping it out, but kind of liked the balance of shadow and light - even tho' i know it's a bit extreme... tx for the feedback... others have made similar comments when i've let the highlights get blown out - i need to think about how to avoid this in the future...
I actually like the blown out opening to the tunnel. It really contrasts nicely with the darker elements in the photo and gives it an otherworldly feeling. Congrats on getting the guy on the stairs too. His posture is priceless. It looks like he has the weight of the world on his shoulders.
I agree with some of the other commenters, I don't mind the loss of detail at the end of the tunnel. It emphasises the darkness inside, and I think any attempt to recover it using HDR or similar would have resulted in an unrealistic-looking image.
Nice POV! This seems realistic of the contrast from light & dark in the subways. In this shot, the light forces me to look closer to the darker side of the image...seeing the person coming up the stairs.
Super, love the extreme tones and the lone figure, kinda like the blown out tunnel, if it was full of detail I think it would distract from the person.
The blown out tunnel is what I love about it...I actually think I would have cropped it vertically to the right of the low 'danger' sign at the edge of the platform. But, then you wouldn't have your stairs for this 'bonus list' you speak of. ;)
