fugue [fjuːg] n
1. (Music / Classical Music) a musical form consisting essentially of a theme repeated a fifth above or a fourth below the continuing first statement
2. (Psychiatry) Psychiatry a dreamlike altered state of consciousness, lasting from a few hours to several days, during which a person loses his memory for his previous life and often wanders away from home
(and in the challenge a third definition is posted "Something that resembles a musical fugue, especially by interweaving patterns")
So here is my interpretation... an interweaving of dreamlike state and repeating patterns... and while i expect this is going to sound crazy, this is in some sense inspired from the movie Skyfall - the scene with the hazy light and mirrors... i wasn't overly thrilled with that movie as a Bond movie, but they got me with the lighting in some of the locales and scenes... (and now my husband is telling me that the scene that i am thinking of doesn't exist and how much more "fugue" can you get???)
ps - this one comes up nicely large on black if you are so inclined
This is brilliant for the word! I think I'm going to have to skip today's challenge, my mind's completely blank and I'm running out of time... :D You keep those chess shots coming, nothing wrong with them! ;)
Fabulous shot. Love the clarity in the main image and the foggy feel to the others. So many pieces making up the finished product. I know what I mean. I feel the psychiatry in it and love it.
I love the light on the queen and the dream-like setup here!
I feel honoured to be your push-partner this week, Northy. Having looked through your albums I am in awe of your imagination and artistic talent. I notice that a high proportion of your work is very striking BW, so I am going to ask for colour this week. I challenge you to create a photograph in the style of a famous painting - it could be any artist from any period, but it must be recognisably that artist's style. I hope you have some fun with this!
Interpretation and execution of this is awesome Northy. She can see herself everywhere and still does not know who she is... I love your chess shots, you rock them!
@psychographer tx Lisa... i think it's partly the plastic out of which the chess pieces are made (and my hubby thinks i should have bought a "better" chess set ;p), partly the light (a little goose neck lamp from ikea - it is the bestest) and partly lightroom processing - playing with tonality...
Clever lady
Just a queen
