the giants that walk among us... by northy

the giants that walk among us...

perhaps a tad fanciful, but... while we were driving to montreal i was seeing these lines of hydro towers that went on forever... they looked like slumbering giant aliens waiting for the signal from the mother ship to waken and march stolidly and relentlessly upon us...

i thought of these when the the mad minute word challenge was announced on monday... today's word is gravigrade...

grav·i·grade noun \ˈgravəˌgrād\ - any of several large heavy-footed mammals (as an elephant)

Love the lines and the drama. Very cool shot and processing.

Fantastic - love your processing and all those lines.

Unbelievable shot! An absolute fav for me. I really like the deep clouds under the incredible arch of the wires. Fantastic. You know it, don't you?

They do bring imaginary scenes to one - giants with feet apart!
June 13th, 2013
Very cool "take" on gravigrade! I went with the more obvious route...elephant. :))

Great idea for the mad word -- and so well captured -- a scene from a sci-fi movie for sure.

It also fits EOTB10 theme.

There are kilometres of these through the central north island and they always remind me of the war of the worlds. Excellent capture. I have never managed to take a photo of them that I like.

they do look like giant aliens! great gravigrade shot!
June 13th, 2013

Great shot :)

they do look quite imposing from that angle, I'm a bit of a nut for pylon shots, so fav for me

Rik
Nice processing and all the lines
June 13th, 2013
Wonderful, dramatic shot!
June 13th, 2013
Very imposing shot - I always find these slightly threatening. There was a kids' TV drama on when I was a child which did have pylons as aliens, or transmitters to aliens or something like that - I think my slight nervousness of them goes back to that!
June 13th, 2013
Love the PoV and totally get the alien thing. We have massive wind turbines here, must be War of the Worlds or some sci fi programme
June 13th, 2013
I always thought they were invading when I was a child
June 13th, 2013
Wonderful POV. Cool that you have two in the shot, makes it more interesting than one.
June 13th, 2013
This is so moody & dramatic :)
June 13th, 2013
Wonderful, powerful photo. Remember reading The Iron Man to my son - this photo brings to mind the opening paragraph

Love the geometric lines and patterns, and the dramatic angle and processing really make the photo great
June 13th, 2013
What a great shot! I love it!
June 13th, 2013
That's not fanciful at all. It's quite clear from some of @edie's recent photos that these giants are taking over Canada!

Great imagining for the mmw.
June 13th, 2013
I really like your impressive pov (like they're moving) and processing. Great shot.
June 13th, 2013
