processed entirely in LR5 including using the spot tool to clone out some distracting bits of water, some extraneous bit of architecture on the wall on the right, and the end of a truck-thing at the top... oh yeah... i played with the radial filter too, but not sure entirely whether i used it correctly and what it ended up doing...
Love this shot. Great tones and I love the pop of colour. I am impressed you can detail that...and a year ago I wouldn't have understood a word either.
In the thumbnail, it looked like someone walking up a wall! I really like this... if it had been dry and no brolly, don't think it would've worked as well. I would love to see the sooc for the changes you did :)
Very cool shot and processing! I need to spend more time in LR5, I just get so overwhelmed by it! You'd think it would be easy as I've been using PS for a year! Nope...Adobe don't like to even name things the same!
@atooner tx Amy... people keeping asking me about LR5... and i have to keep confessing that i am a total doofus when it comes to LR... i barely scratched the surface of LR4 so the value-added of LR5 is still, to a large degree, a mystery to me... i upgraded primarily because it was the only way i could get LR on my new laptop....
that said, the upright feature in LR5 is ultra cool... fixes perspective and tilt issues automatically... also, i am told that the spot removal tool in LR5 is a huge improvement over LR4... which is why i gave it a go here... but whether all that is worth the price of the upgrade? not sure i'm the best person to ask...
will wing it during the weekend. maybe take in one of the fireworks show, wherever i may end up at the time. these days i'm more a wannabe writer than a wannabe photographer. :-)
Lovely simple shot. Thank you for posting the before and after - it's very helpful to see what you started with and how it ended up. I've just got the free 30 day trial of LR5 and so far I'm loving it. I never really got to grips with PS and I find LR much easier to use.
Lovely shot....I like what you did...but I really like the sooc shot too...especially the reflection of the umbrella in the window. I am getting cs6 soon and hope to learn to use it.
@jase_again I don't know about speed... Was using LR4 on my piece o' $h!t PC and running LR5 on my new Mac so no real basis for comparison... Seems faster but when I had LR5 beta on my PC it was just as slow as 4...
I like your image and love your candor..." i played with the radial filter too, but not sure entirely whether i used it correctly and what it ended up doing..." I feel in a similar situation bumbling around in photoshop...some tools I think I get, others I have no idea how they work, but sometimes diddle with them and, if I like the result, use it ...then every now and then I have an ah-ha! moment where things fall into place and I realize what is going on...all part of the process and the fun.
Love what you have done. She looks in a hurry, maybe she fears that you will clone her out of the photo as well if you keep going :) I just nodded my head sagely giving off the impression I understood what you were explaining. I have no idea what you are talking about :)

I'm a big fan of the radial filter. :)
