you must be oaking! by northy

you must be oaking!

for "get pushed" this week, Junko (@jyokota) challenged me to: "capture a macro nature shot and post it without editing anything", to "use (my) camera settings to produce (the) image instead of relying on post-production editing"

for anyone who follows me, you know i've become pretty much addicted to post processing so this is a humongous challenge for me...

not sure the above is quite what Junko had in mind, but it was shot with my macro lens up close, and i did not do a thing with what came out of the camera (not even a crop)...

before shooting i set up the picture style... obviously this was shot using the monochrome setting... i think i had both sharpness and contrast as high as they would go... i also experimented with the in-camera filters and decided i liked the red filter the best.... and of course i picked the dof and shutter speed...

the nice thing about this challenge is that there was comparatively little to mull over after pulling the images off the camera... just a question of deciding which ones to post... yes - there's two... the other is in my other album :)

@jyokota - and here's the other one... i will give this at least one more go this week... i have a couple ideas of other things i want to try :)

It's lovely, you nailed it. It's does Northy style proud. What did you do with all of your free time?
September 4th, 2013
This is amazing!! I had no idea you could adjust contrast in-camera! Will have to look at mine...

@tabbycat yep - on the canon there's a function called picture styles or done such... There are a number of "presets" and then you can also " mix" your own :).

Beautiful image. I'm so impressed with all the steps you took in camera in advance of the shot. I think I had better pull out my manual... Well done on your challenge!

I didn't know you could change all that in camera - I'll have to look at my manual again! This is great - love the textrues

And still so recognisably "you". Fantastic. So now you don't have to do all that editing, your family will get an extra hour or two of you every day?

And by the way, I seem to inadvertently be doing a b&w month this month...

You have done so well SOOC - and to think that I could possibly, with practice, and much trial and error over several years, might maybe be able to produce a shot like this SOOC!
A FAV!
