what are the ideal settings for shooting in the bush? the light is completely unpredictable (and mostly crappy) and everything is brown and green... in the end i mostly just used aperture priority with ISO around 400 or 800 and some negative exposure adjustment... but i keep thinking there has to be a better way...
(sorry i haven't been commenting much... quite a bit of down time, but the internet is rather frustratingly unpredictable in cottage-country)
This kind of tricks the eye. At least my old eyes. At first I thought the person was coming down the stairs carrying a burden and his head held low. But I kept looking at the stairs and something felt amiss. Still have a hard time seeing him going up the stairs. Time for me to test my eyes I think.
@mwbc uhm... prolly cos i had seconds to get this and went for the ev adjustment first? i really was struggling with settings... nothing seemed right... and when i got a setting sort of figured out for one scene, it was completely wrong for the next one!
@janiskay i can get my eyes to see it that way too... but yeah... he was walking up :)
Your setting sound like those I often use in these sort of situations. I like this. It has your signature blast of bright light. I always tend to avoid this but maybe will try to be braver.
@taffy he's actually walking up the stairs... Although I can see that it sort of can look like he is coming down... @mwbc to! It was my husband... I let him get a bit ahead of me when we got to the stairs :)
Great capture for a quick shot. At first it looked to me as if the person was walking down the steps, and also has no head! After reading comments and looking closer, I now can see the elbows are definitely going up the steps, but still; no head!
