i did... and then i didn't... by northy

i did... and then i didn't...

for get pushed this week @fernandocrespo challenged me to shoot something inspired by Gustavo Adolfo Becquer's poem "The Dark Swallows Will Return"

i'm afraid i am a complete philistine when it comes to poetry... a number of google hits suggest the poem is about love... but to me it reads more about change and loss... feel free to draw your own conclusions and educate me ;p

The Dark Swallows Will Return
-- by Gustavo Adolfo Becquer

The dark swallows will return
to your balcony to hang their nests
and, once again, with a wing to its glass
playing, they'll call;
but those that held back their flight
when contemplating your beauty and my bliss,
those that learned our names...
those... will not return!

The dense honeysuckle will return
to your garden to climb its walls,
and, once again, in the evening, even more beautiful,
its flowers will bloom;
but those, studded with dew,
whose drops we watched tremble
and fall, like the tears of the day...
those... will not return!

From love, to your ears will return
the ardent words to sound;
your heart, from its deep sleep
perhaps will awaken;
but mute and engrossed and on its knees
as God is adored before his altar,
as I have loved you..., undeceive yourself:
Like this, no one else will love you!
Well it seems that something is not going to come back and something is! I like the whole picture which has a story and a really good focus! fav

That is one heavy poem - for me it's about unrequited love... and spite.

Philistine? No. And a great shot too.

Great interpretation and greater photo, to me this poem is about the things will never be as before ,this type of poems and songs we call it "cutting veins" (a heavy melodramatic way to show love)

Oh gosh...heavy and dark! Interesting to be able to read some interpretations in the thread. Even without reading your poem, the image was poignant and powerful. Together, could be in an anthology.
