Hee hee, a good helping of "stupid amount of time" went on photographing some porridge on the balcony this morning and then the wind started gusting......

What a wonderful story - so well done! I know the reference that when a pawn makes it to the end of the board, he turns into a Queen.
Well worth the time spent on it.

Lovely!! Do you take the photos in b&w or do convert in editting?? May take part in Feb b&w you mentioned, but don't know best way to go about it. Also is b&w 'harder' ?? Know could google but hope you as expert will be easier to understand!! Jackie

@30pics4jackiesdiamond tx Jackie... unless someone has challenged me to shoot SOOC, all my photos are shot RAW and converted to B&W in post processing... is it "hard"? well - i guess "it depends"... one can simply pick a "look" in most conversion software (there are lots of different bits of software out there that will help you convert to B&W, starting, quite likely, with the software that came with your camera), click a button and leave it at that... however that is not how i approach it... most of the time i think about black and white when i am selecting a subject and composing an image...

some will say that excelling in B&W is easier than colour - and in some respects, i think this may be true... i am terrible at working with colour and so far haven't had the time or patience to address that... but i think it's largely subjective and everyone is going to have a different experience with it... as it happens, i am much more drawn to B&W images than to colour ones, and i expect that's just something to do with how my brain is wired... ;p

does that answer your question at all? happy to try to answer any other Qs on B&W... and you know, there are LOTS of excellent B&W photogs on 365 - each with a unique approach... so don't just go by what i say :)

@northy thank you!!! Have looked up RAW(!) and now know why a person I challenged was not too happy with SOOC! Am learning how little I've learnt over this past )9 months here!! All the cameras I have access to will convert and am sure site that I'm learning editting on does too so think I'll experiment and play and upload if think looks ok! Thank you again, I do like all the styles you upload esp your chess pieces!! J
