@miseria set me the challenge of a portrait with rim lighting... i don't think i've quite got it here, but i'm so far behind i'm posting this anyway... may give it another go tomorrow...
Does rim lighting have to literally go around the subject? Not sure how that would work in a portrait like this. The lighting here makes the subject pop.
@taffy I'm not sure either about the rim lighting, but the usage here with it on both sides of the head and the little piece of feather on the upper right really works well! Lots of stories/words beaming out of this picture!
@miseria - I'm still trying to figure out how to set up my lighting to make this work better... thank you for the challenge - I don't think I've ever tried this before!
@taffy@mikegifford thanks guys... I'm still trying to figure out the right space and lighting set up for this kind of shot... one of my boys would be a better model for this, but they have zero patience so I need to get the set up right before I try to convince one of them to sit for me... ;p
I've learned both and the challenged and the one issuing the challenge that people bring there own interpretation. So when in doubt just present it and be quiet. That's what I learned about cooking. If you make a mistake keep it to yourself. So try to apply here. Looks like a great rim shot.
I see you! Would the rim lighting work better with the hat off? If you don;t want to show your face you could cover it with the hat.. and you'd get the full rim.
