so... hmmm... in "theory" this is HDR... it started life as 7 shots... each one stop down from what the camera decided was the optimum exposure...
i used the HDR merge function in LR... then i processed in LR which probably mucked with the HDR-ness of it all... then i converted to black and white using Silver FX - which presumably mucked with the HDR-ness even further... and then of course i tweaked again once back in LR...
Looks like well done HDR to me. Then again, I find the output of HDR specific programs like Photomatix acceptable only if I select the 'Natural' present, then lower the intensity, then fix it in LR. That my results, and this one by you, have both more dynamic range than a single shot and the HDR faithful would scornfully assert 'that's not HDR' pleases me.
The perspective and the glow is very well done. HDR is an acquired taste, both in execution and appreciation. I haven't come close to getting anything what I really like with this technique- I soldier on though.
I am not a fan of HDR but here it works because it's so subtle. The fisheye gives a cool effect to the sky.
After some deliberation regarding a push challenge for you, I have decided upon giving you a choice between the following two options:
1. A picture that has a shadow or reflection as the focal point
2. A black and white still life using food
I hope that one of these appeals to you. If not I will dream up something else.
@salza tx.. i was thinking i would do reflection or shadow... but you gave me that challenge almost exactly one year ago ;p and no, i didn't remember, i was just looking at my previous images tagged reflection in search of ideas and happened on this: http://365project.org/northy/365/2016-08-22 ;p
might still do it anyway... although i have some ideas for the food still life as well :)
Straining at their leashes... they'll be on the march again soon! Dunno about HDR .. mostly they look awful, but this one doesn't. So well done LR and hi -ho silver!
