bird whisperer by northy

bird whisperer

she had quite the entourage :)

this is sooc, for the ongoing experiment organized by @vignouse of shooting with a nifty fifty (25mm on the micro 4/3) sooc... for the month of September...

i'm going mad already... i desperately want to edit this... just a teeny tiny bit... just a tiny crop and a tweak to levels... pleeeeeeeeeeeeeese?????

(there's another image in my other album that i have edited slightly...)
Wow.... she really is a bird whisperer.

She's having a ball.

You sure chose a hard exposure situation for sooc. I am finding the challenge very challenging to say the least

Impressive sooc. Interesting subject that tells a story and makes for a good composition.

Great restraint you show. This is a wonderfully simple and innocent shot. Fav.

I can never stick with a project for a month, I don't have the ability. I have plenty of projects unfinished to prove it.

How maddening is the levels thing? ;)

Out of interest, is this challenge making you pay more attention to if the horizon is straight?

Excellent candid capture.

Looks fine to me! I find I'm taking loads of shots just to get one that's 'just right' though xx

@humphreyhippo the levels thing is EXTREMELY maddening... am i paying more attention to the horizon? not sure - i've been paying attention to the horizon since Jani and Jase pointed it out to me back in 2012 (;p)... my main challenge is the verticals... and the periphery... i've gotten so used to composing with the assumption that i will be doing at least a smidgeon of cropping that i am forever forgetting to look at the edges before i shoot...
September 4th, 2017
@northy Ha - yes I automatically give myself "wiggle room" too.
September 4th, 2017
@humphreyhippo i'm also struggling with how flat the images end up... not sure if there's in camera settings that can address that... something to work on i guess...

All the reasons why you want to stop are precisely the reasons why you should carry on... you and your talent are much bigger than my puny little challenge ;-))

Love this especially in black and white. Love the sooc.

@vignouse have to agree with Richard here, its painful but no pain no gain. I am sure there much be some adjustment in camera for contrast and such as there is on my old canon
September 5th, 2017
@kali66 tx Kali... I'm hoping the benefit will eventually materialize... there is indeed a contrast adjustment, which I have set as high as it can go... at some point I will experiment w a static subject, consistent light and varying settings... and keep track of what I have chosen... today was not that day :)

I'm becoming aware of that feeling: please let me tweak it!!!! Of course, that's why we're given more than one album! :-)
September 8th, 2017
Will you link to the other version! I'm not seeing it. :-(
September 8th, 2017
@shesnapped hi Ashley... actually the picture i was referring to is a completely different shot of a different subject... not an edited version of this one...

@northy Gotcha!
