Tineke gave me a push challenge of light painting... something i have never tried because i really hadn't a clue... clearly i still don't have a clue...
@mej2011 had to look it up...it says it can stop a person from doing anything in case they fail....I think @northy you mean you'll keep on trying until you get it right!
Great attempt. It looks like someone has just been vapourised!! I love light painting. Have used torches, sparklers and steel wool. Tried to draw pictures, but I'm not much of an artist. Writing words is a bit easier, you just flip the photo afterwards. This one was a favourite of mine. Just used a little pen light http://365project.org/onie/365/2012-09-20
I even used the moon as my light source one time. Will try and find that one.
@lynnb i had started with a long involved explanation about why i hadn't tried this before - which was because i was pretty sure i would suck at it... but y'know, since i was PUSHED, i now am compelled to keep trying ;p
I have never done it...unless you count swinging sparklers around in my 20's on long exposures...do we count that? Is that what light painting is? This looks like a pretty good first attempt to me. The composition is fantastic and so is the creativity...now you just need to draw Marilyn sitting in that chair.
@maggiemae no gloves... my hand is reaching in from the top and either moving too quickly or too high above the frame to be scene... i did have to crop out my toe, however, which had crept in on the right side of the frame ;p
Just move your torch in slow circles starting at the base of the chair. It will give a totally different effect though. I really like this one where someone has disappeared in a puff of smoke!!
reminds me of those stories i've read about spontaneous human combustion. but seriously, if 365 was a course and light painting was an assignment, i'd get an astounding 'F' compared to those i've seen around here. you would probably pass for sheer effort if not for the wonderful set up. hand me the dunce cap.
Well I love this and I can't do light painting, but my first thought was... ooo, lookie shiny light going to transform into a baby angle sleeping on this chair. I know, my brain's weird. Anyway, I like the effort, you're doing great!
@atooner tx Amy! But have to laugh about the kid comment... Mine don't like helping and I used up a ton of good will in Sunday w the motion blur shot ;p
I even used the moon as my light source one time. Will try and find that one.
@edie
I think anything with light and a long exposure counts as light painting!!!
or a guitar
love it
