Ditto everything @lynnb said, but also, thanks for teaching me a new phobia!

I love this. I can imagine a ship in space where the unlucky person is rematerializing. So creative.

@tnaki - this would be my first attempt at light painting ever... fortunately it takes a lot to discourage me ;p
March 26th, 2013
@mej2011 had to look it up...it says it can stop a person from doing anything in case they fail....I think @northy you mean you'll keep on trying until you get it right!

This is awsome! So creative! I have to work on my creativity! lol

Great attempt. It looks like someone has just been vapourised!! I love light painting. Have used torches, sparklers and steel wool. Tried to draw pictures, but I'm not much of an artist. Writing words is a bit easier, you just flip the photo afterwards. This one was a favourite of mine. Just used a little pen light http://365project.org/onie/365/2012-09-20
I even used the moon as my light source one time. Will try and find that one.

@lynnb i had started with a long involved explanation about why i hadn't tried this before - which was because i was pretty sure i would suck at it... but y'know, since i was PUSHED, i now am compelled to keep trying ;p

I have never done it...unless you count swinging sparklers around in my 20's on long exposures...do we count that? Is that what light painting is? This looks like a pretty good first attempt to me. The composition is fantastic and so is the creativity...now you just need to draw Marilyn sitting in that chair.

I think I know how to do it, but haven't tried it. How do you get rid of the hand or do you have a black glove on? This is brilliant!
March 26th, 2013
@edie ba ha haaaaaa! funny you! ;D
March 26th, 2013
Here is the painting with the moon one http://365project.org/onie/my-favorites/2012-02-07
@edie
I think anything with light and a long exposure counts as light painting!!!

I love it! I love the title and how dramatic the chair looks in the empty space on the hardwood. I don't think any help is needed. Great job!
March 26th, 2013
@maggiemae no gloves... my hand is reaching in from the top and either moving too quickly or too high above the frame to be scene... i did have to crop out my toe, however, which had crept in on the right side of the frame ;p

@onie oooh! that moon painting shot is VERY cool Leonie!

Just move your torch in slow circles starting at the base of the chair. It will give a totally different effect though. I really like this one where someone has disappeared in a puff of smoke!!
March 26th, 2013
I love this -- it definitely looks like a ghost is about to materialize in the chair -- but do dolls have ghosts?
March 26th, 2013
Coo effect ...feels like a magician's trick!

reminds me of those stories i've read about spontaneous human combustion. but seriously, if 365 was a course and light painting was an assignment, i'd get an astounding 'F' compared to those i've seen around here. you would probably pass for sheer effort if not for the wonderful set up. hand me the dunce cap.

and "POOF", Aunt Mathilda disappeared! :) Fabulous ...

March 26th, 2013
fun idea and execution is good too, I like this. And I love that chair.
March 26th, 2013
@northy I think you've done an awesome job - has a eerie quality to it!!
March 26th, 2013
Spontaneous human combustion - thank goodness that lovely chair has survived!
March 26th, 2013
that is a good one.. tells a story more than an abbstract.. love it..
March 26th, 2013
uh oh!
March 26th, 2013
this is fantastic. like a ballet dancer on a chair
or a guitar
love it
March 26th, 2013
Well I love this and I can't do light painting, but my first thought was... ooo, lookie shiny light going to transform into a baby angle sleeping on this chair. I know, my brain's weird. Anyway, I like the effort, you're doing great!
March 26th, 2013
Very cool! I'm thinking teleportation in progress. ;)

Amy
Great first attempt. I find I have to use another pair of hands to get mine semi presentable. Kids love helping.
March 26th, 2013
@atooner tx Amy! But have to laugh about the kid comment... Mine don't like helping and I used up a ton of good will in Sunday w the motion blur shot ;p
March 26th, 2013
now how cool is that? :))
March 26th, 2013
Amy
@northy I get glow sticks and even sparklers. Usually puts them in the mood. Well not my kids but my nieces!
March 26th, 2013
@atooner y'well - I have 3 boys ages 9, 9 and 13... Unless we're talking light sabres and destruction of property, they aren't interested ;)
March 26th, 2013
I think that's a pretty decent shot!
March 26th, 2013
Oh, your title did make me smile. The combination of the title and photo made me somehow like the photo more.
March 26th, 2013
I think it's awesome. Looks like alien abduction. Fav xx
March 27th, 2013
haha, your tags make me laugh. This is really nice and I think it could also get the technique1 tag too
March 29th, 2013

March 30th, 2013
I got the same push from Michelle @momsta ... I'm a bit scared now. Love your tags.
