the girl with the knobbly knees

this is my first attempt at using vaseline for achieving soft focus... can't imagine why i never tried this before... i find this technique rather intriguing and will definitely give it another go later this week... one quick technical note... just a tiny tiny amount of vaseline will do the trick... what might seem like a small amount can quickly render the subject completely unintelligible...

also for 5+2's teddy bear theme... and six word story...

Do you put the vaseline on the knees or the camera? Intriguing result!

I've heard of this technique but never tried it. I'm guessing you use a filter rather than putting it directly on the lens? Nice shot the skull and bear create quite a contrast of emotions.

@rjb71 thanks Richard... I followed the suggestion in the technique challenge thread... put a piece of cling wrap over the lens and applied the Vaseline to that... it was a lot less messy than I thought it would be...

You've showcased this technique rather well...

Awesome job and thanks for trying the challenge! The juxtaposition of the skull and the teddy bear is rather delightful, and I like how the skull is in the blurry part.

@northy Thanks I hadn't seen the technique challenge thread might have to give it a go :)

Love the image and the title, the latter could be an idea for a new Millenium series book.

Nice soft focus on the skeleton head and sharper focus on the teddy bear :)

Wonderful contrasts and soft image! It does give it a very cool effect, something I've never tried... Amazing title.

@summerfield very soft... also - I think it’s growing mold ;p. (Its ancient... I think we got it for my eldest when he was small, so 15 years ago or something)
