the nice thing about going to the zoo on a Monday in the depths of fall is that it wasn't that crowded... this is a picture of Kiko, a masai giraffe, being fed by one of the keepers... :0
for the pet parts challenge... the instructions say zoo animals count!!!
also for week 46 of the Dogwood challenge... this week it's the "golden triangles" rule of composition... which i have to say i don't quite understand, but seems to be based on the diagonal...
Wow -- that's a great sight! I've just read about a new feeding technique being developed as giraffes can get lazy and prefer being hand-fed. So this is a feeding thing that hangs on pulleys and is raised up and down to force the giraffes to exercise their necks.
@taffy yes - the keeper alluded to something along these lines... she was hand feeding Kiko at part of giving a "meet the keeper" talk... but the other giraffe, Mstari, was feeding from a pail that was hanging up quite high... it had holes punched in it, and inside where plastic balls (like from a ball pit) and snacks... she had to work to get to the snacks and the keeper said this added interest to the exercise...
@allie912 given the lighting i don't think it is all that much different... in real life the tongue is rather purple, but in the original photo it is pretty much dark grey... even when i boost the saturation...
