Drama in the kitchen

I was roasting coffee today. It was a coffee from Laos, and it produced very much chaff, so the chaff collector caught on fire. I had to emergency stop the roaster, disconnect the chaff collector and dump the burning content outside.
It's good that I never leave the roaster when roasting.
Extra dark roast?

Oh no! Sorry about the fire. Love that you roast your own coffee though, that is amazing.

ooooh I never considered the chaff catching alight!

@casablanca Thanks. The idea of roasting my own coffee came when I came across some coffee plants in Uganda, and started thinking about the process from the fruit (called cherry, but isn't) to the coffee in my cup.

@koalagardens It's a risk when I'm roasting at 245°C. As these beens are naturally (not washed) processed, they produce more chaff. I should have emptied the chaff collector after each batch.
