Edwinstowe

Throughout the Middle Ages the village was the property of the crown in the center of the royal hunting ground of Sherwood forest. The villagers were bound by the harsh laws of the forest with harsh punishments for poachers. The villagers were permitted to gather bracken for bedding and let there pigs root for acorns in the autumn.
This is a lovely sign Margaret and interesting information.
