Barrow Upon Soar - Leicestershire

Jerusalem Island The monument on the roundabout displays a representation of a fossilised Plesiosaurus Macrocephalus Owen; a prehistoric marine reptile which lived 150 million years ago. The bones were discovered in a Barrow quarry in 1851 and the original fossil can be found in Leicester New Walk Museum. The sign was erected on Round Bank in 2004.
