Findern - Derbyshire

Findern 5 -6 miles south of Derby is mentioned in the Doomsday Book when it was held by Burton Abbey. After the dissolution of the abbey, the Fynderne family being the principal land owners, took ownership of the village.
Sir Geoffrey De Fynderne joined the crusades returning with the Findern, Flower (Narcissus Poeticus Flore Pieno) which in the UK only grows in particular areas of the village. It is the emblem of Findern Primary School.
All Saints Church was rebuilt and consecrated in 1863 on the site of the Saxon chapel of ease which was destroyed by fire,
In the 1950’s The Green in the centre of the village was in poor shape, frequently used by vehicles, there was no records of the owner of the land, eventually ownership was trace to the Crown, the Parish Council purchased the land for the village for £50. A corner of The Green and the church are shown on the sign which stans on The Green.
