Yesterday's clouds were replaced by the sun today. I returned to the old barn I visited last Spring and this time explored the property even further. What an adventure! At midday everything was at its brightest and the shuttered window in this picture was no exception. Other than adding a touch of contrast, this is how bright the noon day sun was. I've had fun working with black and white for a while, but tomorrow I'll return to color shots as I share a few more of my discoveries from my wanderings today.
@httpgeffed Thanks Colleen! It was a beautiful building- one that will probably get posted at another time. @kerristephens thanks Kerri! @rhubbard Thanks Rick. I think that is what drew my attention to this particular part of the structure. The stonework was really amazing.
@sgoodin1 Thank you Sara! @cimes1 Thank you Carole! @seclark Thanks Stephanie! @jenp Thanks Jennifer! They have so much character and personality. I spent about 2 hours here, just wandering around and looking at stuff and taking photos- LOTS of photos!! @karenann Thanks Karenann. I have stopped and taken shots here before. It's on a state road that runs along the Delaware River (although you can't see the river at this point). I had to drive up the road to church today to drop off something I've been working on at home and since it was so nice out I decided to bring my 35mm for the film challenge and my p&s too. I am so glad I did! I had such a wonderful time. It was a rejuvenating photo shoot. So, I technically I wasn't out looking for something, but because I'd never fully walked the property I discovered a ton of things to photograph. @juleswoome Thank you Julie! That caught my attention too. @debbim Thank you Debbi! @sarasdadandmom It's stone- probably river stone as the Delaware is very close by and you can see that many of them are long and somewhat flat. @digitalrn Thanks Rick! @bkbinthecity Thanks Brian!
Thank you one and all! I can't tell you how great it was to walk around in the sun today, enjoy the crisp air and warm sun. Ahhhh! And then to have so many things to photograph on top of that!
and i was inside a building 35 floors above ground. :-( i love the textures of the wall and the the lines of the broken window. i love old buildings, especially barns. this is a very nice shot, ann.
This has almost a surreal quality for me. Looks best enlarged. The window looks almost "painted" on to the wall. Superb image, Ann. Again, I'm really loving your B&W's! (I would frame this one and hang it up)
@kloud Thank you Bonnie. I know I've looked at this image over and over again because of that intense white on the window. I think that is a result of the midday winter sun. No leaves on the trees to diffuse the intensity of it. Plus the stonework having the white cement in between adds to the white factor (usually it's the gray/ecru tone). Thank you so much for the encouragement!
@kerristephens thanks Kerri!
