These four lovely ladies are all friends from our Senior High Youth Group. They helped out by modeling these beautiful gowns as part of our Ladies' Breakfast today. There were plenty of smiles and tears as the story of each gown was told while they walked through the room. The teen who is third from the left is wearing her mother's wedding gown, and the teen who is first on the left is wearing mine. I know how tight-knit these friendships can be and I wonder if by the time they meet that man of their dreams and marry if they will still be as close as they are now. Most likely they will.
the girl could've been your daughter! she looks like you and your grandmother in your dec. 29 post. beautiful photo and i love how the processing came out: it's like one of those vintage photos that had been restored! awesome!
Fabulous capture of these charming girls! I picked out my favorite dress before I read your comment. My favorite one was the first one on the left. No doubt in my mind at all. :)
Lovely photo and they were enjoying the fun! Each of the dresses is lovely in its own way........as it should be!
My girls are both much taller than I am......when they were little they did try my dress on but wouldn't be any use for them now!
Sounds like a positive event for getting them out of their boxes!!
@summerfield Thank you Vikki- Sometimes I would look at her and think I was looking at myself 33 years ago! @beachradish thanks Beachradish- we plan to get them prints as a thank you gesture. I think you're right, they'll probably love having it. @bkbinthecity Thanks bkb- they were still buzzing about it today at church. @cortens Thanks Julie! Yes- 1978! This was actually not the dress I wanted, but my mother loved the lace on it so much (her veil had the same lace as that on the cuffs of the sleeve- Brussels lace) that I wore it for her. My bridesmaids wore the style and floppy hat that I wanted. (o: @karenann thank you Karenann- that's very sweet of you! It was a pretty dress, but not exactly what I had planned. But my mom loved the lace on it as her veil had had the same and I wore it for her. I'm glad I did- it now has good memories as she died unexpectedly many years ago. I know it meant the world to her that we both wore Brussels lace. @tanja_1211 Thank you Tanja! I thought the vintage look was perfect for the dresses! @kerristephens Thanks Kerri! @annaruth Thanks Anna! Wow- Norman Rockwell- that is a high compliment!! @filsie65 Thank you Phil! They were having such fun. We had a total of 7 girls model and each of them looked wonderful! The oldest gown was from 1943! @sangwann Thanks Dione! @alia_801 Thanks Alia! @sarah19 Thanks Sarah! Two of the girls modeled their mother's gowns. And both of them fit into them with some pinning and tucking. Both moms wonder if their daughters will ever fit into them in the future- the teens are more slender today than ever before! @digitalrn Thanks Rick- they are great kids! Their smiles tell you a lot about their general personalities. @nicolecampbell Thank you Nicole! I'm glad you like it. It was not the dress I had in mind but my mother loved the lace on it so much, as she had had the same lace on her veil. So I wore it in honor of her and my bridesmaids ended up in the kind of dress I was thinking of! @sarasdadandmom Thanks Terry- yes they are! @kimmistephens Thanks Kimmi!
@tklein Thanks Tina- I was hoping it would have that feel- all those dresses really did have a vintage feel since not one of them came from this decade! @mrssmith Thanks Carla! Yes, they are a great bunch of teens. And it was fun to see my dress again.
Photos like this really appeal to me. The wedding gowns are truly a reminder of yesteryear. Great group of kids. Their enthusiasm for modeling these lovely gowns just shines on their faces. Fav!
@cimes1 Thanks so much for the fav Carole! They are a great group for sure! And they had just as much fun modeling them as the ladies had seeing them. Everyone had such a nice time! I thought the dresses looked so vintage with them in a group so this seemed a great way to process the shot.
What a great potrait!! You could do this professionally! The kids look so happy. The gowns are gorgeous. I love all the detail in them. Your wedding gown is quite lovely... You should take a pic of your wedding picture so we can see you in it!! Nice job on this pic!
@prttblues Thanks Bev- I don't know if I'll pull it off before we leave, but I'll see what I can do. @bruni Thanks Bruni! Yes, the first girl on the left is in my gown. I might try to do what Bev suggested. It would be fun for a then and now kind of shot.
I missed this photo due to my busy weekend, it's fabulous! What a lovely fun idea for these friends to wear these gowns and you have captured the fun and friendship so well!
@potsbypam Thanks Pam- they probably will. @espyetta Thanks MaryBeth! It really was a fun morning for all. @louisefrance Thanks Louise- I've been a bit behind in my viewing too, so don't feel bad!
@annaluceya Thanks Anna! @eudora Thanks Diane! (I processed this one in iPiccy using their advanced HDR effect as well as a massive amount of cloning to remove unwanted distractions in the background!).
