Took a stroll around my garden today to see what was in bloom. I love the color of this plant, but it's not a wildflower so I'm not sure what it is. I saved the seeds last year and was pleased to see it make a return when I planted them in the Spring- but I've lost the tag and can't identify it! It looks like the visitor in the center there is an Augochlora Green Metallic Bee. These bees not only collect pollen, they also collect nectar for their eggs. That's one busy bee! It's day 24 of the 30 day challenge and June is rapidly coming to a close. But these summer colors are going to be around for awhile, which is just fine with me!
Yup .... this photo says, "Summer!" Everything about it evokes the warmth and the sounds of summer. The flower has such gorgeous colors and textures. Enjoy.
@lyno Thanks Lyn- I think that sounds familiar and you are probably right. Yes, I love the two-tones which is why I think I bought the pot in the store. Of course I keep the seeds whenever I can! @dmariewms Thanks Marie. I have a shot of another one that had no imperfection and it was beautiful too, but I was glad to shoot this one because it seemed to have more character. @karenann Thank you Karenann! @digitalrn Thank you Rick- I think Lyn was right=Galliarda.
great focus. very lovely colours. and yes, we're almost down t the halfway mark of the year. in six month's time it will be Christmas and then a new year. you mapping out a july challenge or are we resting?
@woot Thanks Davide! @alia_801 Thanks Alia! @la_photographic Thanks Laura! @sangwann Thanks Dione! @summerfield Thanks Vikki! Alia is working on one with a weekly motif. I'm not sure what's she's going to call it- I'll tag you when she posts it. The idea is that when the month is done, each week will make a nice thread- for example (the one I remember the best) the first week is the colors of the rainbow (Monday- red, Tuesday- orange, etc.) so that when the week is done, it'll look like a rainbow on the calendar view. @cimes1 Thanks Carole! @lesphoto Thank you Leslie! @mrssmith Thank you Carla! @espyetta Thank you MaryBeth! @salza Thank you Sally! @peterdegraaff Thank you Peter! @automaticslim Thank you Automatic! @potsbypam Thank you Pam!
The colors on this plant really are that vivid! So glad you all enjoyed it!
@nicolecampbell Thanks Nicole! He landed just after I took the first shot, so I took another. Although the first one was good, the bug just added a dash more interest, so it became the post of the day.
