I finally found a way to show you a thumbnail shot per today's instructions without having to show you how twisted my thumb is from arthritis (definitely NOT a pretty sight, believe me).
I took a look at your camera information. You might lose a bit of detail when you enlarge some of your shots, but I think you could enlarge many of yours to 8 X 10s because of the great detail your shots have. I enlarge most of mine to 8 X 10 and then mat them to 11 X 14 (the standard size for all of the competitions I have entered). Yes, I am pushing you out of your comfort zone so you will enter a competition.
Fantastic processing, Ann! Love your "thumbnail!" My mother had arthritis very bad, and fortunately, I didn't get it. Yet. My camera may change all of that tho ... the weight of it sometimes leaves my hand a little sore and tired.
@kerristephens Thanks Kerri! I was really tempted to do the Hypnotic thing in Ribbet but the neon effect won out. @daisy Thanks Kathryn. I think the first thing I will do is invest in a camera card that has a lot of memory and then bump up the value or amount of pixels in the shot. It takes more memory but the pictures are then a higher quality as well. I actually did enter one competition already and although I did not win anything the publisher asked for a release form for the shots to possibly appear in the magazine at other times (and you do get paid a small fee if they use it). So, I'm not uncomfortable with it- I'm just a perfectionist!! Thank you for believing in me! It's a nice feeling! @mrssmith Thanks Carla- creatively evasive! @karenann Thanks Karenann! Thankfully it has not crippled me- I can't do some things that require ultra fine dexterity but I can still do crafts, write nicely and take photos! so I can't complain, but I certainly don't like showing folks what my hands look like unless I have to- vanity!! @dmariewms Thanks Marie! @digitalrn Thanks Rick!
you picked a good effect. But the plain shot would have been fine also. Not to many of us have escaped having arthritis, It is the heart of a person I take a look at and yours seems to be flawless.
This Came Out Wonderful Ann!! I am loving the contrast of the colors in your thumbnails with this one!! Sorry about your arthritis..i know how it feels to live with a debilitating disease!! Grand Finallie Comming up Next!!! Nobody will tell me if there is going to be an August Challenge or not and i cant find one anywhere ...any ideas??
@sarasdadandmom Oh Terry thank you for such kind words! I do try to be a good person, to live like Jesus lived, but believe me, my heart has its flaws if I must be honest- such as being too vain to shoot a picture of my arthritic thumb! It is very humbling to own up to them, but it also helps in diminishing them!
@maggiemae Thanks Maggie! We only had to do our thumb nail- thank goodness!! @pjonas Thanks Patty! When in doubt- process! @summerfield Thanks Vikki! lol the space shuttle- cool!
@salza Well, I understand your aversion to selfies Sally. I do not like them either- which is why this one is highly disguised. So, remember- if you have to do a selfie, but you don't really want to, PROCESS!! @alia_801 Thanks Alia! You know how I feel about selfies- this was a great escape! @filsie65 Thank you Phil- but yours was way more creative- this is just a special effect applied to a boring picture. @myautofocuslife Thanks Livia- maybe before you go back to green you should do a week of purple! @sangwann Thanks Dione! At first I thought I might to a "natural" shot, so I'd put nail polish on. It gave my nail a nice sheen- but adding the "neon" effect in Ribbet made it look much much better! @adobewaters Thank you Adobe! Thanks for the fav too!
@olivetreeann Thanks, it was super. I was ironing and watching the local news in-between events.. they were filming live at a gym club full of kids where one of the team is a member, asking for reactions and then the news came in that they'd won bronze.. the kids all went loopy and the adults were leaping about and hugging each other too!! Wonderful =)
@cimes1 Thank you Carole! And you're welcome! I really like the colors on that one! @prttblues Thank you Bev- well, it is, but neon processing really helps hide the bumps and twists! @lyoungs1023 Thanks Elizabeth!
Really cool processing, Ann. . .I recently learned that Caucasian women are the MOST susceptible to arthritis in the hand. . .and here I thought it was all my years of piano playing! ;->
@lyno Thanks Lyn! It runs in my family- both my mother and father had it, and most of my aunts and uncles on my Dad's side (his siblings) have some form of it. I guess it was inevitable! I started noticing it in my early 40's, so I knew it was coming. @automaticslim Thanks Andy! Well I have bumps, twists and funny bends in every finger- but thankfully I still have my grip- it's not as strong as it used to be but my hands are still good enough to point and shoot a camera!
This is incredible, what a color. You've got to have the prettiest fingernail out of any of us. I never even noticed the arthritis, but I sure know what it feels like, as i have it to, just not in my fingers. A Fav. for me!
@granny7 Thank you Linda! And thank you so much for the fav AND the lovely comments about my thumb! The nice thing about this processing is that it hides the arthritis well! And in my vanity, I did put some nail polish on my thumbnail before I took the shot- which picked up some of the light and gave it a nice shine in the photo. I also have it in my knees, right hip and possibly a little in my lower back but my swimming every day has really helped that.

@digitalrn Thanks Rick!
@ellimae Thanks Ellen! I'm happy with it at last. Yes- we did put together an August Challenge: http://365project.org/discuss/themes-competitions/13676/awesome-august. We kept the weekly format again because we really like that and we each put our own little challenge in there. See what you think!
@wenbow Thanks Wendy!
@ellimae - The Awesome August challenge looks like fun!
@pjonas Thanks Patty! When in doubt- process!
@summerfield Thanks Vikki! lol the space shuttle- cool!
looks like a ghost
