I am only a shadow of my former self,
Earthbound by crystals of ice,
Trapped in a fated curl,
Waiting for the sun
to release me from my frozen chains.
I am the shadow of that former self,
Bound to you by sunbeams
falling upon a sparkling cold blanket.
Take not the carpet away,
For in its departure is my demise.
My eyes capture these frosty musings,
The whisper of wind and green on snow
But once recorded will forget their plight
While curled myself in warmth tonight.
@kporte Thank you Keith! @allie912 Thank you Allison! Yes, I did. I'm not really a great poet, but sometimes the words just come to me. I'm glad you liked it.
i love your poem. wish i could just whip up something like that so quickly. you should have this beauty framed with the poem printed on the side; would make for an interesting conversational piece. i love it.
Thank you both- I really just dabble with words. A real poet might see my weak spots. But every now and then something pops into my head and it sounds pretty.
@summerfield Thank you Vikki! Honestly the words pop into my head and I force myself not to fiddle with them because I fear they'll be too contrived that way. I did have two of my poems published on line ages ago but a very fine poet who has her own poetry site. I felt very honored!
Thank you to all for stopping by, leaving a comment and appreciating the beauty of a snowbound plant.
@rangerxenos @cimes1 @daisymiller Thank you so much for the favs Dawn, Carole, and Daisy!
For those who noticed- yes, this is BeFunky's "watercolor" effect.
The poem was written by yours truly.
