7:45 AM in my backyard, mist rising up from the forest floor and the sun burning off the fog. I hope the neighbors aren't awake because I'm out and about in my pjs with camera in hand, taking another shot for the scavenger hunt- a sunrise or sunset. I was attracted to capturing this one because it's not the traditional sunrise shot. Granted I would love to be able to take a picture of an expansive sky filled with soft or brilliant morning colors, but I live on a mountain in the Poconos with lots of trees! So my sunrises filter their way through trunks and branches before they meet my camera's lens. Nonetheless, atmospheric conditions, such as fog, always give those sunrises a bit of mystery and anticipation. What kind of day will this sunrise bring?

Great shot--love the silhouetted trees against the layers of ground, fog and sky. It has a spiritual feeling to it. Fav. But I laughed at your comment about being in your pj's!
I do this too. Maybe one day a neighbor will post a pic of you, photo hunting in your pj's. This is a very nice shot, it makes me want to take in a slow deep breath .

@eudora@fullcircle@espyetta LOL You do NOT want to see me prancing around in the backyard in my pjs!! Thankfully it is only a short walk from my back door to the wood pile where this shot was taken from.
@fivefingerofdeath That is a good question Paul! My point and shoot often has a mind of its own in these matters. What I can tell you is this- I did not have the macro setting on and I used the camera's zoom (not a zoom lens) in taking this shot because I wanted to eliminate a few objects in the foreground. It was easier to zoom in than to walk through the woods in my slippers! I am not good with numbers and what they signify when it comes to focus but the camera says 4X optical zoom on it and it looks like the lens itself says 5.8 73.2mm 1 2 6.55 on it if that makes any sense to you. This little camera was a gift and it has come in handy in many ways, but I do hope someday to have a camera that is a little more substantial to work with!
