Sunlit Doorknob by olivetreeann

Sunlit Doorknob

I was sweeping the floor this morning and noticed the way the sun was hitting the doorknob on our front door. It splashed and amazing gold-streaked shadow on the door. Sweeping was put on hold while I did my best to capture it.
everything stops when there's a photo opportunity. especially sweeping (and vacuuming). the only thing i won't hold off is my laundry. everything else can wait. there's a little bit of self-portrait in there, too. coolio!

When those shots are handed to us, we just have to stop and take it. Glad you did. Wonderful light but most of all great textures. FAV

It must be a nice clean brass door knob! They seem to be able to make ones now that don't get dirty!

@summerfield Thanks Vikki! It's just my hands, not my face. It's more apparent when there's no processing on it.
@kerristephens Thank you Kerri!
@miata2u Thank you Peggy! And thank you so much for the fav!
@httpgeffed Thank you Colleen!

Well spotted, Ann. Makes for a great photo. The lighting is wonderful.

Nicely done! Looks like a trompe l'oeil where it's a clever drawing rather than a real object!

@taffy Thank you Taffy!
@cashew Thank you Kathy!
@sangwann Thank you Dione!
@alia_801 Thanks Alia! I applied a couple different effects to this- wanted to keep the photograph look but bring out the detail of the reflection without going the hdr imitation route and this is what I ended up with. I had not heard that term before (knew of the style, but not the name) but yes- that's exactly what this is- a cross between a highly detailed photo and a finely drawn sketch.
@nicoleterheide Thank you Nicole!
@rubicon Thank you Lynn!

@digitalrn Thanks Rick! I was really trying to use the effects to enhance what was already there.

Very nice! I like the combination of realistic detail in the doorknob and pen-and-ink effect of the background. You are so good at creative processing.

Nice shot, Ann. It's amazing the things you find! I would never have thought twice about the light on the door. You have that extra artist's eye that makes you see things others don't.
