One of Gibson's exercises in black and white was to take a shot and then give it an interesting crop emphasizing negative space. I bribed this little Junco into posing for me by putting seeds on the railing. Instead of cropping the shot, I decided I liked taking out the detail of the shot (it was dark to begin with, but I let it go further) and making it more of a silhouette. The shape of the bird against the snow and the low key definition of the railing turns the whole shot into segments of positive and negative space. I like the outcome of this one.
Beautifully done! I've tried for negative space for the last two days, but no luck yet! I'm ticking off the other possible challenges for the week though :)
