I'm trying to finalize my submissions for the camera club scavenger hunt. One of the items on the list is "Shadow and Texture", which can be interpreted in a number of ways I suppose. But I decided to go the literal route with this shot. The entry shot won't have the frame though.
Great one Ann. The textures in tihs are great, and I like the contrast of the curvy lines on the right and the strong horizontal and vertical in the lighter section to the left.
And I really like the idea of a scavenger hunt. Maybe I can do it with my photography club as well. Can you tell me how it works at yours? and with kind of things there are on the list?

@nicoleterheide I'm glad to share the info with you Nicole. We are given a list of 10 assorted items/topics/genres. Last year the restrictions were that the pictures had to be sooc- with minimal sharpening or color enhancing. This year we have a little more freedom and are allowed to use processing if we want to with the exception of one sooc shot. We are given a couple months to get all the shots- this year seemed much longer than last from March 30 to May 30th. But I don't think it really was. So here's our list for this year:
1. Architecture
2. A picture where shapes dominate the picture
3. A picture highlighting shadow and texture
4. A portrait with natural lighting
5. A portrait with artificial lighting
6. A photo of a man-made item that fits on a table top
7. SOOC (any subject)
8. water
9. black and white
10. wildlife- no domestic pets or animals
The pictures will be judged both on an individual basis and as a whole. I can't remember how they're awarding thing this year, but last year they had both a "best in category" and "best overall" winner. The fellow who is judging this year is a member of our club who is a phenomenal photographer and rather well known in the area. He has been very gracious to give me tips and pointers so I'm feeling the pressure to turn in some great shots- yikes! I don't want to disappoint him! But he won't know which shots are mine until after the awards are chosen (unless he recognizes my style!). We can only submit one picture per category but we can interpret how to do the shot in whatever way we see fit. It's been fun so far, but I've got to finish up my pictures this weekend because I will be very busy next week and I want to turn mine in early.
