When I think about what I seem drawn to capturing with my camera it always involves looking at something that seems familiar in a way that it's not usually viewed. I seem drawn to the smaller details, the pieces or parts of my subjects that aren't often regarded with interest but somehow register in our minds. That was the case last August when I visited the Sunflower Field in Augusta, NJ. Petals, leaves, and the backs of flowers dominated the pictures I took home that day. I processed many of them in color and posted them in the month of yellow I did then. But today revisiting one I hadn't posted and converting it to black and white was on the schedule. And this shot became the latest addition to my imaginary gallery show.
The light is superb coming through the petals and onto the head. The b/w really shows the texture and definitely interesting close up as opposed to the whole thing, for a change.
