My final shot for Flash of Red 2016 and my imaginary "gallery show" had to be a moon shot. I've learned from another 365er's post this week that this particular moon is called a Snow Moon, I think because of when it appears in February. At any rate, it seemed a fitting shot to cap off the month.
Moon Song (for the Microfiction theme)
Sarah sat on the window seat of her bedroom and gazed out into the night. The backyard was awash in silvery light generously bestowed on the landscape by a brightly shining full moon. The trees which stood like silent sentries cast long shadows across the earth. The air was filled with the sounds of a myriad of crickets and cicadas. It was the hour of magic and mystery. Her eyes lifted up past the enchanted forest and she gazed at the moon. A gentle but glowing face looked back at her. No matter how many times she saw the moon it never failed to captivate her. It never failed to amaze her or cause her to hold her breath in wonder. And now more than ever, she needed to wonder, to dream, to hope. "Will I ever be the same again?" she whispered to the face above. The answer drifted in quietly from the depths of her memories; a sweet and simple melody that was as reassuring as the unchanging orbit of the moon, "I see the Moon and the Moon sees me...", she sang. And then Sarah smiled.
Such a lovely story and stunning shot of the moon!! I could gaze at the moon for hours!!! There is something so enchanting about it, in all of it's stages, but the full moon really makes me want to howl!! Gorgeous capture and details!! FAV!
Well done and thank you again for making this happen. It was a great month of learning and deconstructing/reconstructing how to look for b&w in a colourful world.
Great moon shot Ann! And great way to finish this fabulous month! I have loved seeing your shots and going on this journey with you. Also, amazing passage! You should write a book. I was gripped!
An awesome story and a beautiful moon! I find it interesting that the "stem end" shows in a different spot for you Than it does for me! This is why I thought you had tipped one of your earlier shots on its side!
Thank you so much everyone! As many of you know, I do love the moon! Thank you for all the views, comments and favs. I'm always excited to see a moon shot hit the PP!
And thank you to all of you who participated in Flash of Red Feb. 2016. It was a fun month, but I know many of you are happy to return to color now. Thanks for sticking by me and the challenge- and see you next Feb. for FOR2017!
@grammyn@taffy That is very interesting and I'm not sure why it's that different. My guess is that you are further south than Taffy and I??? Could it be that you took yours later at night than mine so that the orbit is higher or lower in the sky (although I think I took this one around 1 AM on a night I had trouble falling asleep last week). As I'm not an astronomer, I will just have to keep wondering!
Thanks for organizing February Flash of Red again this year I have learnt so much.🎈🌟
