It's hard to believe I've had these measuring spoons for over 30 years! They were part of a wedding gift. Can you believe plastic measuring spoons used to be an acceptable wedding gift? Not now!
How times change. People these days want a plasma tv or a fridge or washing machine and they have usually been living together for about 10 years before the get married too so have a houseful of stuff already.
Great for yellow and useful. Besides an ironing board my aunt made up a gift of brushes pegs dusters teatowels etc. and 49 years later I am still using the blue plastic scrubbing brush.
Like a burst of sunshine - especially with your arrangement. Some of our wedding gifts are still going over 30 years on - they might not have been glamorous but they were made to last.
Wonderful shot & composition. Yep, hard to believe compared to nowadays, that this was once acceptable as a wedding present - nowadays they seem to already have everything & just want money :-/
Well done for keeping them for so long. That's something the younger generation don't do as they throw things away when they fancy a change. Nice colourful image
Thank you so much everybody! It was fun to read your responses. I'm not sure these would even count for a Bridal Shower gift now, but I use them all the time so they were a good gift for me!
Great photo! Ended up reminiscing about our wedding presents - 35 years ago and I'm sure very similar to yours. We're going to a wedding in June and nothing so simple requested! Happy days.
@mandygravil Thanks Mandy! So true and I've also noticed that many of the current gifts don't last. I'm still using a lot of the gifts I received both when we were engaged and when we got married.
@salza Thank you Sally! That's probably a contributing factor to be sure. But part of it also is an attitude that gifts should cost a certain amount to start with- like the couple is entitled to having everyone give them luxuries rather than them saving up and buying them.
