I've been so disappointed by my long exposure workshop pictures since I didn't get much one on one time with the instructor. Many of them were out of focus too- just slightly- but enough for me to consider them un-post-worthy. I finally decided to just play around with some of them to see if they are salvageable (that is not good for a long exposure shot but with the magic of photo editing good for something else!). I was initially drawn to the reflection of the setting sun in this one. Only that one small rock in the midst of the gold was actually in focus- and barely! So I decided to go the artistic route with this one. Cropped it, played around with the colors and brightness and voila! It looks like a stained glass window by Louis Tiffany.
A lovely abstract and one to be proud of. Long exposure - you have to be so steady! I daresay the instructor told you to put it on delayed exposure on the tripod? Minimal movement on the shutter!
Beautifully edited Ann! My wife and I were in a store while we were away and I noticed one of the fads now are photos or paintings on canvas with led lights behind. This would be a great subject for one of those. FAV!
THANK YOU SO MUCH! for turning what I thought was a mere recovery shot into something I can be proud of. Your support and encouragement mean the world to me!
Thank you so much for the favs Bruni, Marilyn, FBailey, Dione, Kim, Margo, Kathy, Haskar, Skip, Maggie, Dixie, and Caryn!
@maggiemae Yes, I was using a tripod but did not get a lot of time with her to really understand what she was talking about as far as settings. I do have her notes though from the presentation she gave at the club, so I'll print those out and go to a waterfall on the next nice day and see if I can't figure out how to set things. We had one gal on the workshop that kind of pulled her away from the rest of us but we all managed. Life goes that way sometimes!
@skipt07 Yes, I could see that. I wonder what it would be like if it was actually printed on glass?
@pandorasecho Yes, it would look good on a scarf! @eudora Thank you Diane! I had to do something. I didn't want to feel like the money I spent on an ND filter (not cheap!!) was a waste! @cjphoto Thank you Chris! The light was beginning to fade as it was towards the end of the day.
