The remains of a grand home that once belonged to a well-known resort owner here in the Poconos. From the looks of it, the home was just as grand as the resort (whose remains are just a few miles away). I went back and forth between extracting every detail on this one high-lighting that feeling of abandonment or giving it a softer, dreamier look as a tribute to an era gone by. Nostalgia won out.
This must be the same wall that you considered posting in black and white the other day? Looks great here in mono, with all the textures in the foliage around.
It’s surprising to me that something this great wasn’t picked up by someone who would love to renovate it and take it back to it’s former glory! Love your editing!
@helenhall Yes it is, although the wall which the camera was aimed at is not visible in this shot.
@louannwarren The family owned and used it for several generations. I forget now why they ended up leaving it. It was in a severe fire which took out most of the roof. I guess after that it was uninhabitable. The place was HUGE so to restore it, one would have to have a vast amount of money and resources.
