See her how she flies
Golden sails across the skies
Close enough to touch
But careful if you try
Though she looks as warm as gold
The moon's a harsh mistress
The moon can be so cold.
Once the sun did shine
God Lord it felt so fine.
The moon, a phantom, rose
Over the mountains and the pines
Then the darkness fell
The moon's a harsh mistress
It's hard to love her well.
I fell out of her eyes,
I fell out of her heart
Fell down on my face
I tripped and missed my stars
Fell and fell alone
The moon's a harsh mistress
The sky is made of stone.
The moon's a harsh mistress
She's hard to call your own.
Words and music by Jimmy Webb
One of my favorite Judy Collins songs from years back.
I love the shot and love Judy, just saw her in concert a few months back and she can still toss that thick white hair back and hit the most amazing notes
@steeler Thanks Howard! @httpgeffed Thanks Colleen!
Always appreciate your comments!! @pandorasecho Thanks Dixie! That concert must have been awesome! @karenann Thanks Karenann! @digitalrn Thanks Rick! @woot Thanks Davide! @kerristephens Thank you Kerri! @nicolecampbell Thanks Nicole!
This was the third of three different edits. As soon as I finished it, I knew it was the one! And the song immediately popped into my head! @louisefrance Thank you Louise! The full moon is out tonight in our neck of the woods. It lights up the entire backyard! Quite beautiful!
aww, you know what the moon's effect on me (no, not the fact that i turn into something sinister... well, that, too!). this blue moon of yours is quite lovely. i like the processing, too. posterize then infrared blue or something?
@prttblues Thanks Bev! This is an ornament on my Christmas tree. I bought it many years ago but I'm not sure where! I have a star and a sun that match it. @summerfield Thanks Vikki! I tried three different processing methods on this picture. This was the third one and the minute I finished it, I knew it was the right one! First I tightened the picture by cropping it close to the ornament. Then I sharpened it for crisper edges. I first applied the Heat Map effect using the "Satallite" setting and finally I used the Posterize effect. In posterize I used all of the "colors" (which were now shades of blue) and faded in more detail from the original picture for clarity. @mrssmith Thank you Carla. I don't know if this one was released for radio play or not (I can't remember because I played the album so much!), but it's from the album "Judith".
