So much wonder
Carved in Your coral seas
So much wonder
Shaded by ancient trees
I consider all that Your hands have made
Every newborn's eyes, every new sunrise
No power can tame Your presence
No light can match Your radiance
Let all creation sing in wonder
Every sea, every creature, every star
You opened up my eyes to wonder
What a vision, what a wonder You are
Such a wonder
Ordering time and tide
Such a wonder
Bridging the great divide
I consider all that You had, all You gave
And all that you endured
From this rebel world
What a wondrous cross You chose to bear
What a wonder You would even care
Let all creation sing in wonder
Every sea, every creature, every star
You opened up my eyes to wonder
What a vision, what a wonder You are
Let every rock cry out
Let every knee bow down
You opened up my heart to wonder
What love, what a wonder You are
No power can tame Your presence
No light can match Your radiance
Such a wonder...
Such a wonder...
Let all creation sing in wonder
Every sea, every creature, every star
You opened up my eyes to wonder
What a vision, what a wonder You are
Let every rock cry out
Let every knee bow down
You opened up my heart to wonder
What a love, what a wonder You are

After a delightful lunch with some friends from church today, I went for a short walk on McDade Nature Trail. What a beautiful day! Even though I took some lovely shots of the fall colors and afternoon sun streaking through the trees, this shot really captures the essence of my walk. There is a section of pines which has filled this part of the trail with the most glorious scent. Their height is quite unusual for these parts too- not as tall as the redwoods, but it feels like it to me when I walk alongside them. I was surprised to see a large amount of them broken and stripped as if they'd been in a violent windstorm. I'm not sure what caused their condition but I had such a sense of wonder about them. First at their glorious height which reached toward the heavens but secondly at the power of the wind that snapped them in two like a toothpick.
@maggiemae I have to look up the ones who wrote it, but it was recorded here by a group called the Newsboys. Most likely someone in the band wrote it. I'm sure it's on YouTube somewhere. It's pop-rock in style and I just love the dynamics they use between verse and chorus. It really summed up what I felt like looking up to the sky with those trees towering overhead.
@daisy Thanks Kathryn! I didn't photograph the fallen trees- should have. They looked like piles of the old Lincoln Log toys. @henrir Thank you Henri! @digitalrn Thank you Rick!
@lyno Thank you Lyn! I was really amazed by the whole scene. I don't know why I didn't take a shot of all the toppled ones- but these are so much more majestic.
@filsie65 Thank you Phil! @kandernob Thank you Karen! @sangwann Thank you Dione! @httpgeffed Thank you Colleen! lol If you think this one makes you dizzy, you should see one of the others that I took. It has the same pov but the one tree trunk is definitely curved and it has a unique swoop to it. I'm saving that one in case I need a filler!
It does look like a lovely day....same here, too, and I've been busy working in the yard taking advantage of cooler temps with no rain. Great shot and cool perspective!
I love the perspective of this one. It makes the trees look wicked tall. It almost gives the feeling like you laid down and shot straight up. Very nice shot! And the lyrics you wrote are lovely. Well done, Ann!
@prttblues Thanks Bev! I didn't lie down, but yes, I think the shot feels like I did too. The trees really were quite tall. Even standing there and holding the camera up over me had me tilting backwards!
@henrir Thank you Henri!
