What a fun day!! I met up with Vikki Summerfield in Canada and let me tell you, she is just as great in person as she is here on 365! We knew today's word for the One Night Stand was "transportation" so both of us took note of the boats which transport you to and from this awesome natural landmark. And even though I'd shot a picture of a truck on the way to the Falls, when I up-loaded everything from our day, this shot was so much better. Here you see two of the Maids crossing paths- one on the way out to the Falls for an up-close-and-very-misty view of the water as it cascades over the horseshoe ridge- and the other on the way back to the dock. Behind them is the impressive American Falls and just next to them a small portion of the Bridal Veil Falls appears at the edge of the picture. It was a rainy day but as you can see that did not deter most of the tourists from taking the boat ride out to the Horseshoe Falls on the Canadian side for that breath-taking view of the unbridled power of water flowing over the edge of the ridge from the deck of the boat as it slices through the whirlpool.
Great shot Ann! I bet you and Vikki had a blast. I've never seen The Falls in person but this is so impressive because the boats look so small. I hope to visit one day.
Did you take the boat ride? Doesn't matter if it's raining or not, you won't notice. The spray from the falls feels like a hard rain and you get soaked! LOL! Great idea for this theme.
Great shot, Ann! I have been to Niagara Falls and me and my daughter went on the Maid of the Mist and went to the falls. I was checking a box the other day and came across the blue plastic "raincoats" they give you. I took photos for my "Nash Bash 2005" photo album (way before 365) of the boats and she had asked if we could go. I said maybe. She said that means no and the next thing ya know, she was surprised because I had gotten the tickets to go! She got soaked!! This is a fantastic shot of the boats heading to and from the falls. I hope you took the trip!
@salza - sally, you must come and visit! ann and i decided on not taking the boat since we know we would have more meet ups. maybe we're saving it for when our other good friends come. @tara11
