I bought these Oyster Mushrooms at the Farmer's Market on Saturday. The Mushroom Man (that's what I call him!) recommended sautéing them lightly in butter and garlic, then serving them with linguini. He said they would taste like scallops. While I was chopping them up for dinner tonight I remembered how much Francoise loves all things fungi, so before I sliced them on the cutting board I took a few shots.
So this one's for you Francoise!
Dinner? It was delicious!! Prepared as recommended and then added a light creamy wine sauce with Parmesan cheese- yum, yum!
Lol, you confused me. I saw the picture and title and didn't realize it was your pictures, so I was wondering why it was written in third person when I thought it was written by Francoise
I shall just have to take your word for how tasty the mushrooms are. I am allergic to them so I steer well clear. I don't even handle them. In the past I have gone mushroom picking with friends and all I do is take photos!
wonderful textures patterns lighting colours! So glad you captured them before eating. Now, I hope there is still a plate left over, as I am on my way

Thank you so much everyone! For those of you who do not like or cannot eat mushrooms, I'm glad you enjoyed the picture! I realize mushrooms are not on the top of anyone's list of foods you want to eat. However, for those of you who are undecided, these do not taste "mushroomy" like the ones you're probably used to. They are very delicate and although I'm not sure if they really taste like scallops, I can say they have a very light pleasant taste which really is enhanced by the garlic and butter. So if you ever see them in a store, give them a try!
A special thanks to all who fav'd it as well- two on the PP today! You sure do know how to make me smile.
Glad to hear they tasted good too!
