Boy did I get an odd combination for the album cover challenge this time!
Artist: Saint Luke Drawing the Virgin- a large 15th century panel painting attributed to Rogier van der Weyden and dated between 1435 and 1440. It shows Luke the Evangelist (who is also the patron saint of artists) sketching Mary as she nurses the infant Jesus (yes, a little bizarre!). It is believed that Luke's face is that of the artist and as most of the paintings from this era there is a plethora of symbolism throughout the painting.
Title: We are Groot- from the Guardians of the Galaxy of Marvel Comics fame. Apparently this character was originally introduced as one with evil intent, but was later changed to hero status. I know very little about contemporary comics but I'm sure there are plenty of folks here on 365 that will recognize this quote.
So there you have it. I did some foto foolery on a shot from the resort shoot. This illuminated artwork seemed to fit the comic book character, although Groot is much hairier!
Consider you had such a challenging subject to work with I think you have done remarkably well. It's not an usual for you to do well on the album challenge though
Thank you Nicole, Lou Ann, Henri, Helen, Katy and Sally! Thanks so much for the positive feedback. I really felt this was a tall challenge and wasn't quite sure I'd met it. I'm glad you all like it!
