Honoring the Fallen by olivetreeann

Honoring the Fallen

I took part in a program today called Wreaths Across America. It was sponsored by a group that supports the families of men and women who died in service to our country. Every Christmas they place wreaths on their graves on the third Saturday of December with the aid of many volunteers. While I and two other photographers had gone there to photograph the ceremony, we learned that anyone could take part in placing the wreaths at the graves. So each of us helped out. It was very moving. This shot was taken during honors ceremony for WWI soldiers. The gentlemen in the picture is a veteran from the Vietnam War.
Very moving photo. Neat project. Fav.

I really hope to volunteer with our nearest group in Ft. Smith that decorates the National Cemetery twice a year. Such a moving service.
